Yes I have.

After half a year I would have said that "sure it's worth it, the food, the people etc, all new and exiting"  And after two years I cannot really say if it was "worth coming here". In China I enjoy great freedom and have good privileges, it's just impossible to fully enjoy when surrounded by millions who are far from as fortunate.

Yes, my parents and most of my family have long since passed away, my wife's parents and family are still alive.

Oh, and I like China.

Time actually in China adds up to three years, seven months, two weeks and four days.

I got to learn a whole new set of values and ethics, as well as a completely new variety of English.

I am here since October 2006, and I learn a lot, sure it is experience, which you can not get elsewhere.

It is worth, but it is also time to shift the gear up and move the ass.

I have been in China since 2008 and have learned much... about myself...

and increased my level of tolerance considerably. Now I just know that many

things are 'just the way they are in China' and I cannot change them, but

change myself.

1 year 8 months.

I think a year just for the incredible experience is enough if you're not willing to progress in terms of gaining attainable confirmation. Not just a reference with experience, I'm talking IELTS/CELTA/HSK Levels/University business modules and so on. Unless you're not planning a long time stay, do something instead of drinking harbin.

It's definitely changed me to a more mellow person however more cynical when conversing. Tolerance (obedience) has risen which is nice, cockroaches/mosquitoes, crappy accommodation, low pay; been through the storm. Managing time is a big problem (never make the most out of it), accompanied with the whole large chunks of having f**k all to do followed by an onslaught of work, enough to mentally scar Jeremy Paxman is a real roller-coaster ride. Independence boost. Fantastic culture and most people are generally friendly on the face of it all. Food which is lovely jubbly.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
