Q: Have you noticed that police/security messages use all these cute cartoons?
It's something I've seen on the subway a lot - videos of police warnings about how not to walk onto the subway tracks and so on. They use these circle-headed cutesy cartoon characters to illustrate their points. I've also seen this on the street with traffic police cars and police announcement boards having these cartoon police characters explaining various regulations. Seems strangely ironic. What do you think?
Not only that but AIDS awareness, various flu warnings...treat your populace like children and how do you expect them to act?
I guess it's to appeal to a broader audience...?
But what has always made me wonder is that they just make really cheap and basic flash animations. I mean, even in the early 2000's you could see amateur flash animations of better quality on Newgrounds, so how comes the "professionals" that were supposed to make these animations quickly slapped 3 tweens together in half an hour and called it a day, for something that would be played in subways and buses for years to represent the police and such?
On the other hand, that's how most modern Chinese cartoons are made, so I shouldn't be surprised.
Yeah, I noticed it! I've seen more bizarre things than this. If that's the weirdest or one of the strangest things than you are doing a pretty fine job!
I've always felt this is done due to the lack of education poor people in China have, which is A LOT of people in China. You have to dumb it down a bit and make it a bit more simple for the average person who grew up dirt poor with very little schooling and growing up in an isolated countryside and now working/living in a large city.
