I started dabbling in photography and knitting (I know it makes me sound like a granny but in winter it's actually quite nice to sit inside, watch a DVD and knit).

Sadly this is my hobby . Although I would love to try to find something that I can do with my kids.
I started my own blog site while in China, originally to repost stories that were banned in China (eg SCMP and NYT) but later also posting about the pros and cons for expats living in China. It has expanded now to include 48 contributors, and we share news and ideas about China, as well as our own opinions.
Since returning to Australia, I have found it helps increase my knowledge about China. Unlike many other sites, most of the contributors use their real names, and some are quite well known in their fields (including several authors). Therefore, the information I get about China seems to be quite reliable.

Would love to read your blog. Any chance you could PM me the link?
I don't know if I'd call it a hobby. A change of life style. My hobbies at home have tools involved or my pets. I raised cats, even claimed it on my income tax as hobby farming. China is never boring enough to have time for a hobby.

I currently see only the other side of the coin: China is deadly boring as there's no chance to do my hobbies.

I'm Canadian, we spend more than half of the year indoors, sure theres the beer, but I really enjoy Chinas heat.
Yes, riding my bike around the place where I live. Also shopping....
I have become quite good at dodging cars on pedestrian crossings so adopted it as a hobby. But I think it's going to be a short-lived pastime!!!
No, as I cannot do my lifetime hobbies (off road motorcycle riding and radio controlled model airplanes), there's nothing else I'm really interested into.
But for 1,5 years, before getting married I used to spend every available minute of free time chasing any pretty and alive 18-30 y-old girl. Does this count as a hobby?
Yes: mental masturbation. My dog, Butch, has also picked up a new hobby: chowing down on anything that gets in his way when he's on a "relief mission" - from the jackass on a wayward scooter invading the footpath to... fat subnormal dudes puking/pissing/shitting in front of the building, day or night to... screaming mee-mees having a public temper tantrum to... snake-oil salesmen, wherever we go, aiming to rip us off because we can't speak their gibberish. So, yeah. Butch and me, we've developed some new hobbies since seconded to this Kingdom of Weirdness. And we're having a ball!!! (The gf will contravene any and all statements made above by me and Butch. Ahhh, wtf.)
Spanking Sparkey.

yuck...that's gross it's like being chased by an old man with a broom stick.
Demolition Derby style driving, with the twist of trying to avoid all the Mad Max types out there on the road. Quite exhilarating.
Traffic dodging. I love dodging electric bikes that sneak up behind me on sidewalks and nearly run me over, then protest at stupid they think I am because I didn't move. I swear the next arsehole that comes up behind me on an ebike without sounding his horn is going to get pushed off!
Traveler:
Just side step and coathangar - preferably across the head or throat
Scandinavian:
How can you possibly want more people to sound their horns. ???

Why not try what we do on a slightly more narrow pavement. Three of us walking side by side and not giving way to the collection of bikes piling up behind us . They eventually get the idea and move onto the road. The surprising thing is we have never really had any big complaints.
Yoga! Although I'm only going at the moment to wind the teacher up. She thinks I can't do some things because of the language barrier, when in actuality, I just really can't do yoga. However I will keep going until she either forces me to be a yoga prodigy or she bans me from the class
Yes, my new hobby is going downtown to walk around. Dang that sounds so lame now.
My newest hobby is picking my buggars and putting them on things such as windows....is that considered a hobby?
