Q: Have you tried any chinese antibiotics? Do they work for you?

I went to the hospital recently as I had an ear infection and the doctor gave me a prescription for some chinese antibiotics. Apart from the fact that I had to take an insane number of tablets per day, it took me more than two weeks to get rid of the infection.

When I have had a similar problem before, the antibiotics normally solve the problem in one week. Have you tried any chinese antibiotics? Are they significantly less effective than the western counterpart?

sounds like you've been TCM'ed. Typically when you get the large amount of pills, it is some kind of condensed vegetables. I am sure you would have gotten over your ear infection just as fast had you not taken them, two weeks sounds like a long time to wait for an ear infection to go away. Untreated I would give it about a week for a normal healthy person to heal.

I had an ear infection some time ago. got a copy of Zitromax from the local pharmacy (no prescription needed in China)

Remember when it comes to antibiotics, you have to complete the prescribed amount to counter the risk bacteria developing resistance to the drug being used.

I consulted a doctor back home prior to selfmedicating.

Most of my infections are resistant to Zithromax. I've taken to using Claritzithromycin, and it works good. However, I've decided to avoid them as of late, and my immune system has improved a bit.

uh, then I never want to meet you in real life. I prefer bacteria than can be killed with Zithromax

Of course they work. Want proof. OK.

A Chinese person gets a cold or flu. They go to the local medico and he tells them to come back each day to get an antibiotic drip. 3 or 4 days later your cold is better. Works every time.

I had 2 times suffered from cold within a short frame of time and had to be brought to a local doctor nearby my school. It was quite at the beginning, after I arrived in China september last year. I've prescribed 4 sort of pills, one of which was an amoxiciline or something like this. It took about 8 days and got cured. As I said, shortly later I've got again the sympthoms of a flu and ran to another doctor who failed to prescribing almost the same pill, dosage and types of them. I gave up on the 4th day to keep taking them as I felt it was not reasonable that I was again to repeat the same treatment in more or less 1 month and a half following the first one. It was quite of a nonsense. Obviously the antibiotic was failing somehow since I've got the same symphom of sickness as before. I thought that my body should now make up the way to get the virus out of my body one way or another. It worked. I took plenty of water, honey water and infusions. It was the best way ever.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
