Q: Have your students ever brought anything strange to class?

I have to say, today was the weirdest classroom experience I've ever had. A few of my students were laughing at something outside the window. I asked them what was going on. They said one of my students would soon be back with an animal he had caught. What was it? A squirrel! He put it in a bucket and put the dust pan over the top. They kept peeking at it, and from what I could see, it was probably too scared or sick to move. They were all excited and laughing about it. After I got over the bizarreness of it (I tend to laugh when I'm shocked, even if it's not funny), I told him to take it back outside and let it go. I told my students it is not good to catch wild animals like that, that they belong outside to be free. He took it back outside, although there's no guarantee he put it back where he found it, the poor thing. I mean, what if he had been bitten? What if it had gotten loose in the classroom? Maybe I should do a class on respecting wildlife? Has anything like this happened to you?

I had a similar incident but the person brought a couple of turtles to class. After sitting there for awhile it started to smell kind of funny. Other than that people have brought pillows to sleep and they brought there PSP to class sometimes playing it in the classroom. The squirrel tops this though.
