My late mum was called "Nessie".
In Scotland it is a nickname form of "Agnes". We named our daughter after my mum (unofficially of course, I cant pronounce her Chinese name), but we shorten it to an extension of the first syllable rather than the second.
So yes. I claim connection to a "Nessie"

flipping innovative bunch them Scots, what is your claim to fame? golf, a great way to get away from the wife for best part of a day, get angry at a little ball and then relax and deal with them frustrations with another Scottish thing, SCOTCH. ..... ... no dummies in Scotland.

Im more of a bourbon drinker myself...but I am starting to acquire the taste of scotch. A few more toddies of scotch and soda and ill be set.
