Q: Heart attack in China.

Wondering about this. as I am very near to have one these days, I am thinking, if I would have to pay upfront , or how it would be dealt with, if I suddenly get heart stroke, and i will be lucky enough someone will try to help and also call ambulance, which can reach me within 1hr at their best here Smile

Someone have some hear encounter, or some info ?

Basically the same mechanism, but different t.hings... blood gets clotted, leading to lack of oxygen to a certain part of the body... stroke in the brain, heart attack in the foot... I mean, heart.

I'd go to the Hospital and ask there, before hand. MDs (dentists) speak English in China, but it wouldn't be bad idea to have Chinese English speaker with you.

They might be helping you, and then turn to your Embassy for funds. I'm just guessing. Stay away from the Hospitals and MDs!

How about printing out a first aid leaflet in Chinese and popping it in your wallet.

If anything did happen it would be logical that the first place to look for information would be your wallet... oh wait... I used the "L" word.

Carry around a bottle of aspirin. If you start to feel like you're having a heart attack, chew a few. Chewing gets it into your bloodstream faster. Obviously it's not going to cure the heart attack, but it can lessen the severity and damage while you are waiting for medical care.

You would first have to scream out "I have insurance, I won't ask for compensation" so somebody will stop recording your death on their iPhone and use it to call an ambulance... maybe?

So yeah, I am there where I was before Completely helpless in a "world leading nation".  So , maybe the idea with instruction, probably also on the my mobile lock screen, as this would be first item picked before my wallet, i guess ...

And crap loads of hot water, maybe getting a astronaut suit filled with hot water and soaked myself in would solve all my problems include obesity devil

You should put a baby aspirin under your tongue if you think you are having one. Loosen you collar and sit down. Very often if an ambulance reaches you quickly it will not be fatal. It says online in major cities response time 5 to 10 mins in major city. To be frank, if you think you might have heart disease, you might be better going home.

dokken:

Also I'd have your wallet on you at all times. Until there is proof of an ability to pay, you're a dead man. I got told the story of a girl who had a gash in her leg. She was left bleeding in the waiting room until payment was sorted. She was stupid enough not to have insurance though. Even worse than America. Least they would patch you up without insurance

What a load of crap!

SO many people have heart attacks and strokes - sometimes without even knowing about it - and end up fine!

SERIOUS strokes and heart attacks need immediate attention, and even then, you could be dead anyway! Go check the hospital statistics for the number of people in them who die of such things.

this is intriguing .... I wonder?

my doc, 20 years ago, told me I was doomed ....  work stress, booze, sleepless, etc. etc. etc.

I did 15 more years of work ......  been here for 4...... god it is stressing me out, the old doc would probably sell me some pills and some therapy and maybe a weekend getaway at  his brothers resort.. have not had a pill since I came here, I did have some twigs and seeds but that was a big joke too.....  TCM is no goofier than prescribe pills, or electric shock or aroma massage..........all in your mind, your mind...  nobody else's

Nessquick:

Thanks mate

I will be happy with old doc recomendation, for some 20 days off just for myself somewhere in mountains, without "civilization" ...

I don't eat any pills except occasional iboprufen or some headache pills. when it comes hard. I don't even " go see doctor" ( btw, why "to see a doctor", when i need doctor sees me and my body ? ) . just get some mucosolvan. it's hard to get some nasal spray for runny nose, they offer pills... stop here, or my headache will come and blood pressure will increase :-D
