Q: Help with an Aussie visa agent. Urgent. Anyone with exp?

My mate's visa runs out in 8 days.  He is in China now.

His passport is in Sydney and the plan is his relative presents it to the Chinese Embassy, together with appropriate documentation, to apply for a Z visa for a new position he has been offered in Shandong.

The embassy has told his relative that they can't/won't do it without the applicant being there in person.

He can't go to Aust because his passport is in the hands of his relative in Sydney.

So he wants to engage the services of a legitimate agent based in Sydney.

He has asked me to ask the ECC community for help/advice in contacting such an agent.

Thanks, in anticipation.

He's having his passport sent back from Aust and when it arrives he's off to Sydney where he'll apply in person for a Z visa and, if all is ok, he'll come back to China and begin to work legally.

He has asked me to pass on his gratitude to those that have offered good advice.

Have a nice day.

Yahoo-gle has some links on search 'visa agent in Sydney'. Have a look.

Here's one:

http://www.visaforchina.org/SYD_EN/

Click 'Step By Step Guidance', and there's possibility to do it by mail:

https://www.visaforchina.org/web/guidance/StepByStep_questions.action?vi...

You can get L by mail. Make sure application is fully filled online and printed. They won't accept application with corrections by pen. It must be all filled online. I tried the link, LOL. I've never been to Ozz.

I see now....You can't apply for Z from China. You must be present at the Chinese Embassy, when you apply for Z. No agent can do it without applicant being present, either. 'Being present' is an Embassy's requirement. No mail, and no copies. All docs. (ILetter&WPermit) must be submitted in original. He must visit Ozz. Embassy in Beijing for new return passport. Relatives in Ozz could also mail passport with 'something-fast-est-mail-service' to him.

icnif77:

Bad news:

1. Who can apply by post?
You can submit the application yourself or authorize a third party to do so.

(1) The Visa Centre accepts visa applications from Australian citizens residing in NSW or citizens of other countries staying in NSW of Australia with appropriate legal status. However, we cannot accept the application if you are not physically in Australia when your application is being submitted.

If you are currently not in the country in which this Visa Centre is located, please apply from where you normally reside, or apply after you have returned to the country. Application acceptance is ONLY available to people lawfully residing in the country in which this Visa Centre is located.

Thanks a lot.  My mate doesn't have a computer so I've told him of your links (both of which opened up immediately!) and he's off to a computer cafe now to get on with the business.

Hopefully he gets sorted and can be done with it in time to relax and watch the snooker this arvy when it starts at 4.

'Up-yours' is the code name for ......I can't tell you! Somebody, who stick it to the ''Chewin'-Gum-Gov.'' not that long time ago.

In order to work over the I-phone, you should cap. it.

I hope, nobody takes his code name (too) personally, but if so....it wasn't my intention. 'What--so--ever'!

He must exit China, and get Z in person at Chinese Embassy. He'll get Z with 3M time to enter China.

As soon as he'll enter China, he'll get an entry stamp. He must convert Z in 30-days after entry to RP.

That's how it is, and there's no Q who's right!

Does he need new Z or extension of RP? You're talking about two different things.

He needs a new Z.

The visa he has now, that will expire next Monday, is something else.

Your mate seems to be facing stress and I am just wondering how is s/he going to reslove this? For Z, one has to personally visit Chinese embassy as icnif stated earlier.

A little homework might have saved him from all.

royceH:

He has done some homework and the advice he was given was that he doesn't need to present personally at the embassy outside of China.  As long as the paperwork is in order a proxy can collect the passport with the Z in it and post it back to China.

One thing isn't in doubt though, he is under stress.

I don't quite understand this. Your mate is in China, his passport in Aus. He's applying for a Z visa.

Miso even if the Z visa is issued and his passport DHL'd back to China, what is he going to do then? He still needs to leave China and then enter on the Z visa. Will he do a HK run?

ScotsAlan:

Yes, you need an entry chop to "activate" the z visa.

royceH:

Is that right?  The Z doesn't activate of its own accord...?

I didn't realise that.

My mate didn't know that either.  Or his contracting school or any of the people who gave him the advice to send his passport and documents to Australia.

In this case, my mate is in a bit of strife and I shall inform him of what you've said.

Thanks men.

I just spoke to him and he's adamant that he doesn't have to leave China for the Z to activate.

He has received advice to that end, and says it's even stated out on the website that a proxy can send the passport back with the new Z in it and everything's hunky dory.

So, who's right?  I don't know.

Anyhow, he's under the gun, no doubt about that.

My impression is he should have his passport sent back to China pronto and then present himself to the PSB and ask for an extension before he hits the deadline.

Thanks for your input.

What the heck? Your Z-visa has a 90 day limit. When you ENTER China, the count-down begins. If you never "enter" China, how can they validate your entry?

Hotwater:

You're not FOB Royce, thought you knew all this from your time on this site. You have to ENTER China using the Z visa to then get the FEC & Resident permit. That's why everyone always talks of exiting China to get a Z visa. It's also why Z visas aren't issued in China. Your friend has been very badly advised.

The he people he needs to speak to are SAFEA. IF he get his passport back before his current visa expires then he should get his arse to Hong Kong (or Mongolia, etc) so he exits China. Then come back in using the Z visa. Please tell him to get some advice from SAFEA first.

Hotwater:

Here's the key part of the process relating to the Z visa:

After the employer successfully obtains the license, the employee needs to go to the Chinese Embassy in their home country to obtain a Z visa. The Z visa is only a vehicle to enter China for a limited period of time. Upon arrival, the Z visa holder must then obtain work and residence permits which will allow them to legally work in the country. - See more at: http://www.china-briefing.com/news/2012/05/17/obtaining-a-z-visa-work-permit-and-residence-permit-in-china.html#.dpuf

Any feedback Royceh?

Whats your mates plan of action?

royceH:

I'm not exactly sure what he's going to do.  I have passed on all the advice received here.

He is my good mate and I hope he's able to sort it.

I'm waiting for him to call me.

He really only has one option. Get his passport back and get out of Dodge before his visa expires. Good luck to him.

Yes, that's right.  And I made him aware of that this evening.

He's not a dill, so I'm sure he'll be ok.

Passport back immediately and a conversation with his new employer and a ticket out of China.  That's his short term reality.

Thats the only option Royce. He has to get out before his visa expires. I was a day late on a business visa once (leap year). Not a good experience.

His new sponsor should write HK as Z pick-up spot, if possible. I believe, school can ask at SAFEA, if that's possible. My present school told me last Sept., that HK Z isn't an option, so I returned home.

If School can negotiate with SAFEA, he could exit to HK, and wait some 20 days (as I did last May in Fujian) to receive WPermit and ILetter to HK hotel.

It's important, he doesn't overstay. I overstayed for some 20h exiting from Tianjin, because delayed flight. Cops at Luoho took me to the office, wait for an hour, and then warning: 'Don't do it ever again!'

I didn't have any other problems with Z after that, so probably not too negative record, but I'm sure there is record, and they know about it.
