Suzhou is boring. There's not much to do there. Once you've seen the gardens and gone to the water streets you've seen it all. There's a bar called Wave Livehouse that puts on live music from time to time which is okay or you can just wile away the afternoon by hanging out in one of the restaurant bars by Jinji Lake.

I've been here for six years. If someone says its boring here, they must be measuring against cities like; New York, Hong Kong, London, etc. If you need bars and/or KTVs to be entertained, Suzhou's got plenty of them (surely more than most other Chinese cities). In my opinion, the people are what make a town entertaining. Suzhou's got a pretty international population with more world experience than your average Chinese citizen. No matter where you go, you have to seek out fun. Don't just expect it to drop in your lap.

Also pretty tolerable weather. It's mid-October and people are still in shorts and mini-skirts. There's boating and mountain climbing too if that's your thing.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
