I have a Customer from US ,but i have never met before .I don't know much about his personality or anything else .Now ,he asked me if i can organize some adults who is interested in English training ,he can teach in his home on weekend and at night and invite me to be his partner . I have asked him if he has teaching certificate ,he told me he has a degree in electrical engineering and can teach technical & business English .

What's should i do? Is that legal ? And the Key is i don't know much about him and if anything happened , I'm the one who has to be responsible .

Hope to get some advices soon .

The guy isn't a qualified teacher and it sounds like he wants to make extra money on the side. What he's doing is illegal, unless it is through a school that has provided him with the correct visa. But it sounds like this isn't the case. Don't feel pressured into doing something you're not comfortable doing. Just say no to him - it is your right and there's nothing to feel guilty about.

At First ,he said he used to teach at a university in Chicago .Is it possible to work for a university without teacher certification ?

Rin:

He could already be teaching in Shanghai legally with a working visa. We all know you don't need an education degree to teach in China.

In which case, as long as he has permission from the school to work part time, it wouldn't be illegal.

it is not possible to teach without a proper study in education in western countries. UNLESS he taught electrical engineering which means he most likely has a title phd/prof

how do you want to trust him? he will just take your students and you wont see money

Go out for coffee and get to know him, discuss details in detail. and as for a degree in engineering.... that isnt easy to get. So i seriously doubt he is lazy if he really has that. Ive worked with two giys who had engineering backgrounds and they were excellent teachers, they had gotten bored in their job and were taking a couple years off to just try something different from the mundane job they had.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
