I think it really depends on how regularly you vist China. If it is three weeks in China, and one week home, then it might not be difficult to find a part time job. Some places won't mind if you can't teach every week. However, if it's 3 weeks with a month in between or longer, it will be more difficult. Of course, I'm talking about teaching English. If that's not your cup of tea, then I have no idea if you can find a decent job. Why are you coming to China? What time of the day would you want to work? It's very difficult to give you a good answer without more details.

YOU SHOULD SORT OUT VISA PROBLEM, BEFORE THINKING OF WORK IN CHINA. THERE ARE SOME SCHOOLS, WHO NEED TEMPORARY TEACHERS; IF YOU CAN TEACH ENGLISH. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER SKILL TO TEACH; DANCING, YOGA, KICK BOXING ETC, YOU CAN CONTACT ANY FITNESS CLUB.
FOREIGNER COACHES ARE VERY POPULAR IN GUANGZHOU.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
