I even see a lot of people wearing glasses with no glass in the frame. Crazy fashion...

In primary and middle school they have some eye exercise invented by Mao Ze Dong in the sixty's. Rubbing eyes and other strange moves (often with dirty hands). This is done daily, sometimes two times per day..... It is obviously not working Smile

i find the font size for printed books is smaller to use less paper and they squint to read the books, i know trees are sort of limited for paper use, but they print most big print books for the west in china anyway.
also the characters seem hard to copy from looking at them, let alone know what they mean.

Tired kids.

Tired eyes.

Homework for hours at night.

Computer games.

Extracurricular lessons such as English, Chinese characters, drawing.

Cost of glasses....very cheap.

Masturbation (makes you blind remember!)

Useless eye exercises.

Pollution = sore eyes and / or allergies = eye problems.

Sometimes these kids just need a good night's sleep and a few drops of Visine.

bill8899:

This! Wait, why did you have to mention masturbation?

Eye object.

I have no idea but I have noticed a large amount of girls do walk around squinting. No shit, just watch for it. They think that glasses look ugly on them. Squinting of course, looks cooooool.

  Yeh. Sexy.

I wouldn't know exactly why, but after I started teaching the 15 yr old at his home and he was using Imac it dawned on me that I could possibly have the answer to your question. It took him a long time to read and he was always putting his face to the screen. These are some possibilities to why there is such a high ratio of optical deficiencies here.  (Drunk!

It's possible that there's a lack of vitamin A and other vitamins to help keep eyes healthy.

I think what Justin said, about spending too much time indoors, and not enough outside is probably true. Chinese tend to stay out of the sun, so their skin stays white, but this has other consequences.

Additionally, many students at boarding school are forced to read at night in dormitories using only the light from their mobile phones (often under the blankets, so as not to disturb others in the dorm). This also causes eye strain.

Most older youths, adults don't wear glasses. Do they out grow the eye strain from youth?

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
