Q: HIV in China

Anyone know what percentage of the population has it?

With all the pink rooms around I imagine there are shite loads of people here with it but figures are probably hidden so that mass panic doesn't ensue.

Think about it, almost all married Chinese guys have a woman on the side as well as visiting other women for a quick fix. Pretty sure this place is rife with HIV.

deep logic at work here with efl-Alan.... Since you never saw a Chinese woman using a pill, the conclusion is they use condom. Have you noticed that is easier to get done an abortion here than get laid? Even with prostitutes, and for my work sometimes I have to get in contact with them (I'm interpreter and sometimes got clients looking to get laid), they tell me that is very rare that the Chinese client don't ask if they can do it without condom. To answer OP , you will never get those "loosing face" information. When I first arrived here they told me that foreigners brought aids to china and Chinese don't get aids...maybe the pollution made them immune?

owenmj:

Given the procedure involved in any getting an abortion I wouldn't imagine that women are reasoning 'fuck it if I get pregnant I'll just get an abortion' It's a pretty nasty ordeal, and also every Chinese girl I've asked personally (only a few) have all told me they would never even consider an abortion if they got pregnant, and CLAIM that this mentality is the norm in China. Perhaps I'm wrong here but I also don't think that girls are having unprotected sex here on the basis that they'll get their baby aborted in the same way that girls elsewhere will on the basis that they'll take the morning after pill. Actually without the morning after pill I imagine girls elsewhere would be much more careful to use condoms if the only option if impregnated was to get an abortion. All that said I know for a fact there is a disproportionate number of Chinese too ignorant to even know all the risks of unprotected sex, I think that would be the primary reason for it.

That if they go to a hospital. And again perhaps, are we talking about first tier cities?since the op mention china as a whole, I highly doubt that is that uncommon in china to do this things in a private, clinic (read garage or basement)....

There was a thing a few years back where a poor village somewhere in China was infected with HIV because the people sold their blood and the medics used dirty needles. Or was it a blood transfusion thing.  I cant remember, but I do remember a Chinese lawyer was jailed for trying to bring the issue to international attention. I think it was about 2007. But not sure.

Anyway, HIV in China.... Is it rife?  I don't think so.

I could be totally wrong on this, and I stand to be corrected, but here are my thoughts:

Chinese women, in my experience don't use the pill. The pill is not part of the health service. It should be of course, because the pill can help regulate periods etc.  I have no idea why Chinese women don't use the pill. Same as I have no idea why Chinese women won't drink cold water.

So, we have a situation where there is no pill, and you need a book to have a baby. No book, big fine. And until recently, second baby means big fine.

So people use condoms.

Abortion is a form of birth control here of course. But it is easier to wear a condom.

Mao of course famously (if you look it up), got STD's in China down to practically zero.  But I think he done that by making people too fucked to fuck!!

So yup. China limits non barrier birth control, so people wear condoms. None of that urgent gasping " It's ok, I'm on the pill, cum inside"

Good question. I have never thought about it, and my answer is totally made up Smile

Hotwater:

Totally disagree with you here mate. Chinese women using condoms? You've got to be kidding. Only ones I've come across using them are working ladies.

HIV is a growing problem in China due to lack of health education. Especially in the 40-60 age group. I'll try and find where I read that.

A few long but interesting reads from a quick search on Bing...

https://www.avert.org/professionals/hiv-around-world/asia-pacific/china

https://qz.com/850110/hiv-infections-are-rising-sharply-among-gay-men-me...

biggest growth in infections seems to be men who have sex with men, men over 60 and 18-25 year olds.

What I usually do, is to tell me gf that I'm serious with her, even if we just dating, and better to check togheter if we get some "biantai" foreign disease.

Who cares about the percentage?I just assume everyone has it.You should never try your luck.According to the research three years ago about 17 to 18% of college students have it.So yeah it's pretty high and I'm sure it's much higher in society.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
