Q: Is homosexuality freely spoken about in China?
When I was in Jinan for the year teaching I noticed that it was not discussed but quietly known but kind of taboo to speak, is it gradually coming to surface?
Depends, do you have money, or a bit of celebrity?
If yes then you're fine, you can even use it as a ladder to get more celebrity. The more depraved the better, no problem press is following.
No money no status? Shame on you. Get back in line. Respect the national feeling. Shut up.
Every body knows. I think Chinese men do not know the difference, they act gay. Men hold each other while walking. I have Chinese man friend. I think he is gay. He watches me pee, he wants to watch me have sex. He says he is married, I do not believe. Then I meet his wife and child. Wife leaves scooter with key in, scooter disappears. This is just different culture. I am heterosexual and I need to paint my new scooter, but we don't talk about this either.
I guess Shanghai is not a tolerant global city after all.
