Q: Hong Kong visa run, how to ....

It's been a while since I've been to hk to get my visa transferred from tourist to working. So I need help on how to get from student visa to tourist visa.

What's the process to get visa in HK and does anyone know the address? And how long it would take without getting it fast tracked?

Thanks !

The address of the Chinese Embassy in Hong Kong is :

7th Floor, Lower Block, China Resources Building,

No.26, Harbor Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong SAR

Office Hours

Monday to Friday (except Hong Kong public holidays,)

9:00-12:00 14:00-17:00

For all visa information, visit

http://www.fmcoprc.gov.hk/eng/zgqz/hzsyjbtk/

as page opens, under the search button, there is a vertical blue background rectangle with many options that will answer all your questions about documents needed, fees, time, etc.

Their number is: 3413-2300. Also, it may help to print out a China visa application form beforehand(available on the internet) and fill it out

If you file your application one day in the morning, you can return next day to pick it up. They call it 2 day service, it is really 24 hours service.

Happy gave you the address. But my only advice is go there earlier, about 8. the line gets long. And they will require a HK telephone number, so get the hotel number on the application . I think it takes a day.

Mong Kok is going to be a cheaper place to stay than HK island. And there are some markets there that are fun to look through.

Yes, that's where I stayed Mong Kok. Well lucky for my friend she has relatives in HK so she can crash there and really take her time.

Thanks so much for the detailed steps in getting the visa ! Good thing someone reminded me about the invitation letter ! Now with the new policies !

dont go to the embassy, u will wait forever. in a building nearby the chinese embassy there is a travel agency (which is even recommended in my travel guide). price is about the same, but u dont have to wait there at all. used them 2 times, can only recommend them.

Yes, it'd be easier in this case rather than waiting for ages in the Chinese consulate visa office in HK, for sure!

It used to be that it could be done by just crossing through the border at Luohu, Shenzhen, going to a travel agency there and a few hours later, voila, a new 3 month visa. I'm unsure if this is still the case. It was convenient though as you didn't even have to leave the building!

Digging up an old post here as I am going to Hong Kong with a friend in a few weeks to change a tourist visa to a work visa. Is is true that some travel agency can do this in Hong Kong? Just read the post by "luggi" and am interested in that procedure providing it's accurate.

Anyone know about this?

Hi Derek.

I just plugged the address given above into a search engine, and got the hit I was after. I'd suggest you do the same, then email them directly :)
