I always like to have plants around me. I am back home in Canada, and would like to decorate my place with some new plants that can be associated with Chinese culture.
eg. the bonsai to Japanese.
What are your suggestions?
Try a Chinese money tree. It's actually native to Central and South American, but they are popular here I think.

and they are quite robust towards people like me who do not know how to take proper care of plants
I see a lot of people have aloe vera, we also had these back home so from that I know they do not handle frosty weather. it is also on the list of functional plants, you can use the gel for all sorts of things if you believe it will do you any good.

yes, they are nice plants. My family had one since I was young, it is still alive today.
I had a bonsai when I first got here. I thought it was totally cool.. never thought about it being Japanese though... haha
They have some kinda weird lore about them, something about how they can live for centuries. I think that is pretty cool. They look neat too, and I guess low-maintenance, I just put mine where it could get some sun & fresh air (balcony) and watered it when I remembered to...

they are surely associated with Japan, but maybe they were/are common in China too.
