Q: How to avoid recruiters?

I hear that recruiters cream off the best part of your salary, so its best to deal direct with potential employers.

First question - how to make contact. I am still overseas. Most of the jobs on the boards here are through recruiters. Is there somewhere else I can go to find jobs? Or should I wait until I'm in China next year?

Second question - if in China, what method should I employ - just keep approaching schools and other institutions until I find someone willing to employ me (on my terms)? OR is there a better way? (If it helps, I will be in Hunan, Chnagsha)

Third question - if there's no recruiter creaming off the top, what sort of salary is typical for a teacher in China at the various levels? (I have a Cambridge CELTA certificate to back me up, and a Law Degree, with legal experience)

This is web link of Public Schools in China authorized to hire FT (and sponsor Z visa). Change 'province', and 'keyword' for desired School's level:

http://www.anesl.com/schools/info.asp?province=Guangdong&keyword=college...

You can contact Schools directly, and avoid recruiters.

I am a recruiter, and we don't "cream off" your salary.

It's in our interest to make the employer offer you the highest salary possible because our service fee is a percentage of it.

So the highest is your salary, the highest is our fee.

And believe me, sometimes it's a blessing let a recruiter introduce you to the employer. We know and understood the employer need and, according to them, introduce you stressing  the strengths and skills the employer wants.

Moreover, in general, there's no fee to pay for the candidate in case he gets the job. Only the employer pays the bills.
