Q: How can I access Facebook from China?

I am leaving to China shortly, and I would like to set up a service so that I can access Facebook when I'm in china. Any suggestions?

If you have a Windows PC, download hotspot shield or freegate. Those softwares are free.

If you have a Mac, I only know of one way, pay for a VPN service. Sorry, I don't know which are the good ones.

Wish you a nice flight and welcome to China!

There is an informative blog post regarding how to access Facebook in china: http://www.how-to-access.com/facebook-access-in-china-what-works-and-what-doesnt/

I have personally used their service, and was able to access the internet, and had good internet speed. I will be one of their returning customers next time I travel. Good luck.

I was having no difficulty accessing facebook with my Astrill VPN but the last few days I have only been able to load it very sporadically. I think it is just a constant battle between the GFW and the VPN services. Today it won't load at all at the moment.

Buy an iphone or ipad and use the free VPN service on it. I believe you get 30MB a day without paying. Anymore and it'll cost you.

Astrill is one of the best VPNs out there. It's something like 30 USD for 6 months which isn't super cheap but worth it if you access a lot of blocked websites on a daily basis.

I use Ultrasurf. Someone gave me a copy in my second week here. Good connection, free to use as well. You just need to install the certificates and get an update once a month. Not had any prblems with it whatsoever.
