Q: How can I apply relocate in another branch?

Let's say if I go work in an American company's Shanghai branch, but after a while of working there I decide to apply work in it's US office. Who should I apply to? The manager higher than me or to the US office directly?

You're assuming that they have any vacancies in their US branch and they need to employ a Chinese speaker.

philbravery:

Maybe they might just need a good sales person, period.

Hotwater:

Yep, but I'd guess the Us has some strict employment/visa laws on employing foreigners so sales people wouldn't be a role that would have many openings for foreigners.

I wish Vicky all the best though. She does try!

use the company's web site to seach vacancies .
most companies advertise internally positions in other branches and countries.
also talk to the Human resources deptment .

there are tons of chinese in usa already, why the would import another one for all the hussle involed?

That of course if they need a chinese native speaker (for what else you would hire a chinese anyways?)

Anyways, check their website (us branch) for open vacancies. You could also find the contact of their HR and apply.

If your branch boss or hr boss have good connection to the HQ you can also ask them if they have vacancies.

Wow ...wish i had thought of that .
