I am building a service to help foreigners buy stuff over Taobao with no headaches and no need to ask family/friends constantly, wait a few months and it will be ready.

Wow, chronic-down voter... you are fast aren't you?

I barely pushed submit before it was down voted. I have to say you may just be the saddest and most loathsome person on these forums. I am serious.

Good work takes time, hoping to have it up for August - September, when all the new ESL teachers come.

that's a good business idea...it's such a pain in the ass dealing with anything here.

i mean ANYBODY with a Visa/Mastercard/Amex can order off US websites why the fuck does it have to be so complicated here?

@expatlife26 - I agree, even the "how to guides" are still a pain in the ass and assume you have a perfect shopping experience.

What if you have questions? What if your order is lost? Why do some banks require you to use a security USB? How do you check out an agency to make sure it is legit?

A friend can help with these things but will soon grow tired of doing this for a foreigner EVERY time.

China is designed for Chinese... so it is up to us foreigners to mold things to our liking every now and then.

The easiest is to have a Chinese friend help.

If you don't have one, try searching for "Taobao how to guide". You'll get something like http://www.howtousetaobao.com/

expatlife26:

i won't downvote that...but I fucking hate that suggestion for everything.

You're at the phone company trying to get a data plan... "why don't you get a friend to help?" No, why don't you get off your ass and sell me what i want to buy you lazy bum.

just a cop-out for people who don't want to do their jobs.

actually, Mr. expatlife26, I am all with you on that. It is a weak answer from my side, and a weak problem solving attitude from anyone. But hey, my "Chinese friend" is my wife, and in that case it is acceptable.

Buying on Taobao is easy, you can even buy a number of products without a credit card by paying cash to the kuaidi guy when you receive it. But yeah it can seem complicated at first.

what do you want to buy? You could apply an account and then buy it through your alipay account.

Taobao isn't rocket science. If you have half a brain it is not difficult.
