Normally, the first visa you get is for a short period of time.  If you"behave" and comply with  regulations, your second visa will be for longer periods of time. Be aware, a tourist visa has three components: the validity (in your case 3 months); the number of entries (you did not say) and the stay( not one month but 30 days).  If you have only one entry, 7 days prior  the 30 days go to PSB and request a 30 days extension, you are allowed two of them if qualify. Need to have abou 20,000 yuan eposited in a Chinese Bank and a good reason to stay longer.  If you have more than one entry, take bus from Guangzhou to border  station, exit China, enter Hong Kong, and without leaving  staton turn around and reverse procedure.

What you are doing is not legal in China.

selling on ebay - or trying to - is legal but whether the postal cops allow things out of the country is another matter. there is nothing illegal about being in China and deciding to sell authentic products onlinet - it is absurdly difficult but not illegal and the tax has been paid in the store where the item was purchased. Trying to export the fake crap out of here is not legal and thats why cops open up boxes to check they are not packed with fake iphones etc. hypocrites.

while selling on EBay,Taobao,or whatever is legal, but for a foreigner without a work visa and related permits it is not if done while in China.  Any work, for pay, profit or for no fee at all is illigal without a work visa.

Go to Hong Kong, come back, go to Hong Kong, come back..... easy if you're based in Shenzhen.

Which country are you from?  Most people do not need a visa for HK.

by 'doing business' do you mean you are actually working?

what you are doing sounds like you are working (making money) on a tourist visa which i would imagine is illegal.

if you are making money, get the right visa.

If you are working for a company, they should help you  do this

ironman510:

Sorrel get your facts correct, you can do online business as long as the money is coming into China and you're not being paid by a company, ebay is no different than messing with the stock market to make money. Ask your self a question, if I sold a comic from 1956 for $30,000 and than I had that money sent to the American account, not China and walk on over to any bank that can accept a Visa debit card to with draw the funds in RMB, how can that be illegal? The sale was done online, the money was sent to the home country account, not China. You're starting to lose it Sorrel, now don't be letting your IQ slip girl..

buying and selling = making money = working

if you are making money, it is called working.

Visa can't be extended within China like the old days, maybe 30 days extra but nothing after that.  You're out of luck.
