First, are you fluent in any of the many languages spoken in countries of Europe ?.  If notl it will be very hard to find office work, where you need to receive instructions and do a lot of reading.

The visa for the particular country, if not a member of EU, will depend on that country.  You will need a work visa, and with current economic conditions may be a bit harder to get.  But unless you try, you will never realize your dream.

I know you want to go to Europe and as Happy said it will be extremely difficult if you cannot speak one of the European languages but as an alternative check out New Zealand as they have a working holiday visa scheme for Chinese (not Taiwan) people aged 18 to 30. I have asked some of my friends and they have never heard abut this visa.

my advice, spend a few years learning english french and spanish. if you learn those languages in addition with chinese you are valuble to an international company. there are already many chinese people in europe so just knowing chinese won't help you at all.

have you thought about being an Au pair. you might have to get an international drivers lic. and you should like snot nosed little brats (children)

From my point of view, it's hard to imagine that you can work in Europe since your English is far away from desirable. No offensive. Another foreign language like Spanish,French must be a huge burden. And what's your advantage? I mean, what kind of job you may be interest and you are qualified to ? If it's only your impulsive idea to work outside, then just let it go. Meanwhile, the European debt crisis has led to tons of unemployment. I can not imagine competition there. On the other hand, you can travel to different countries if you want to broaden your vision, no need to work there.

I do not know. Even though you have some experience in foreign trade. However, It's totally different when you work in Europe that almost everyone you communicate with do not speak Chinese along with great culture difference. I know that, it won't change your mind no matter how feasible the suggestion is. It's your decision, you make your choice and you are responsible for the consequences.

hi victoria,

the followings are how i found the job in Germany 3 years ago,and got working visa for one year ,and the whole visa issue costed me 35 euro. and now, i have the "buyer card" (in canton fair,my card is the same as non-mainland Chinese, but i am mainland citizen.)

1, find out what kind of job DO YOU WANT TO TAKE in Europe.

2,check the requirements.

3,if you can reach the requirements, then apply ;if not, then find the solutions/ways to reach the requirements (e.g. : when i apply for the job in Germany, they need German language level score from Goethe institute as it is valid the whole world, and i passed it Smile)

4,after you applying, keep in touch with them, don't never push, just follow and give them response as reasonable as possible, and as fast as possible. then the result would be more and more clear.

5,before you meet the workers in embassy , or your boss in Europe, try to prepare enough. the more , the better , make them feel that you are serious with your job!

6,i suggest you, apply for a few jobs, but not only one. this will make you more flexible. then you have everything in hand, and you can control the whole situation.

good luck! laugh

Your most likely route is to look for companies that require advanced Chinese language skills in Europe. Trovit is a good place to start but you can use other search engines to find the recruiters. I also suggest looking in the more remote areas with countries. The big cities in Europe have substantial ethnic Chinese populations and the competition for jobs will be intense. More provincial areas may offer greater opportunity.

You also need to research western business culture and practices. Recruitment in the west is very different from the way that Chinese companies work. Western companies place greater emphasis on your personal attributes and what you can do for the company. Less emphasis is placed on your academic attainment. That is to say, there may be a minimum level of education required to fill a position but the deciding factor is more likely to to be the way you conduct yourself as a person and your business acumen rather than having higher qualifications.

CV/resumes in the west also carry higher importance. You should seek advice on how to write a western CV and how to gain competitive advantage by doing so.

Vic!! if 1987 is your DOB, I see you very young and you are consumed with some fantasies or crazy ideas. May be you have free time without a boyfriend and you are having nonsense issues.

As I have worked at Universities, I have seen many kids like you. You told above that you are working in business sector and you want to see the world and you want to work. If I really have to suggest you, it is better for you to focus on yourself to develop you.

Stop watching TV, Stop playing unnecessary games on iPhones (if you have). Focus on English. Prepare for IELTS or TOEFL. For Chinese IELTS is bit easier. In IELTS, get at least 6.0. Then apply for MBA in Europe. In Germany, education is free, and so in Sweden and Denmark. There are many universities offering degree programs taught in English these days. (To be clear, I don't mean they are teaching English, the medium of instruction is in English)

While you are preparing for English test ( I would say it will take one year for test plus application), try to save some money. Get some help from your family. Do MBA or other degrees. While studying you can do part time job (it is allowed and I also did it). After degree, especially Germany allows students to stay for 18 months to search jobs and you will have higher chances to get it. Even if you come back to China, I am sure you will land with big pay check (a good job) and you don't have to keep posting on forum about your crazy love stories or easy fix for Europe tour. Do something that you are really going to be proud of yourself dear.

Well I stop here. But if you are really interested and want some information about how and where to do it, I can provide some guidance to you. Or, you can even ask on this forum, everyone will be ready to guide you (I hope so).

I am trying to motivate my GF also to do something like that but she is willing to go abroad (even for study) if I follow her.

For study, I am always willing to motivate people, so don't hesitate if you have any question.

Hope, I am not sounding rude.

I told you, University doesn't "CHARGE" money if you are cleaver enough to look for it. That is why I said if you are really interested I can provide you some information or guidance on where and how to do it. First read CAREFULLY dear.

If you don't want to spend money and get scholarship then work hard and get good score in GMAT. If you do that you can get scholarship anywhere. Just don't be negative even before seeing any possibilities. Have you ever tried seeing those options on the net that I wrote earlier?????

To be frank Vic., seeing what and how you write it is not easy for you to get overall 6 or 7. You may get between 5.5 - 6 but not 7, UNTIL and unless you completely focused on it.

You definitely can get 7 but for that you have to leave the whole world behind you while you are preparing for it. Don't worry much. If you really want to do it, then you can achieve it. I made my Mongolian colleague to prepare twice for IELTS to score 6 so that she could apply for PR in Canada.

I wish you good luck...

Hi Victoria,

well i am from UK, let me tell you the current employment  position in UK, there is lot of unemployment at the moment. The UK border agency put the cap on migrant workers means if you do not have right to work in UK you cant get the job if you have one.

secondly all the employers are not eligible to apply work permit for foreign workers they need to hold a special license from UK Border Agency to hire someone.

My suggestion to you first of all do not come to UK for jobs and secondly do not even come to Europe for a job as the situation is tense for foreign worker.

Given you've said elsewhere that you've chosen not to go to university here, it's going to be pretty tough you getting a job over there. They usually want a foreigner to have some form of educaation to hold down a full-time job. Your other option would be as Haku suggested, go to an European university - which again, is unlikely unless you can really convince them you'll be a good student (not likely, since you haven't bothered to here).

You're ONLY advantage is that you're familiar with Chinese business... but, you don't really have the skills that Europe would really want. Your only language is English - which limits you to the UK (really),and as has also been mentioned above, there's plenty of Chinese-UK citizens... who don't need a work visa... Also, there's plenty of Chinese who have done the study in China and are now choosing to study in Europe.

Seriously, your chances at the moment are basically NIL!

Now, if you're willing to educate yourself, you have a chance! Fortunately, you're still young... so, if this is a serious dream of yours, you've got plenty of time to make it happen. But, it's not going to be easy, nor cheap.
