Q: How can I find painter and decorators in Beijing? And how much?

Firstly, how do I go about finding someone to paint my flat for me? And how much does such a service roughly cost?

As far as I am aware there are no painters or decorators in China. Nor are there any electricians or plumbers.

Normally it is just someone who owns a roller ,a wrench or a screwdriver. Be careful because what I really mean to say is that they are not professionals. If they paint a wall they will paint the ceiling, floor, light switches, plug sockets, door frames and even you if you are in the way.

The wall will be covered with paint (not evenly) but you will have a clean up job that will take you weeks if the paint has dried.

Go anywhere and check out the paint job, restaurants, schools, etc. You will see I am right.

goldenboy said parts of right. most paintesr you find on the street are unprofessional. you never konw how skill he has unless he painted you house. so if you want paint room only , i suggest you go to the paint shop , buy paint and told your problem to owner, let them recommend some veterans to you.
if you want decorate you house ,you should find a decoration company, make a contract with this company, let them help you find good painter, plumber or electricians. that maybe spend more money but still convenience to you. Smile

A:Yes, you can get legal ET job by the Chinese Labor law.  Problem is, most Chinese managers and recruiters don't know, they can obtain Working permit for a non-native English teacher with BA completed in a native English country. I'd suggest, you mention possibility of legal employment for non-native English teacher with degree completed in a native English country at the first interview. It's a tough time in China at your example, IMO.  Most recruiters and hiring managers in China know only "ET must hold a native English passport ..", so your job application get dismissed right there. The other thing is, never stop sending your CV to the job offers doesn't matter if no replies. At my time in China (pre-2017), I'd send CVs to every offer posted daily.I've even disregarded advert's requirement 'native English passport holder', and ... I got a reply or two in a month time. Take the last paragraph as a rule! Good luck!   -- icnif77
