WHAT!!!?!1!

I CAN'T HEAR YOU YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPERS. ALWAYS RUNNING AROUND MY LAWN. SONNY JIM, I'M LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO HELP PEOPLE PRACTICE THEIR ENGLISH. WHEN I TALK ABOUT THE GOOD OLD DAYS, I CAN GO ON FOR HOURS AND HOURS.

HAVING A CAPTIVE AUDIENCE LAPPING UP MY EVERY WORD SOUNDS DELICIOUS. AS DELICIOUS AS A GOOSELIVER PATE SOFTBREAD. I USED TO LIKE CRUNCHIER FARE BACK IN THE DAY, BUT MY DENTURES AREN'T WHAT THEY USED TO BE. NEITHER IS MY DIGESTION. OHHH, YOU WON'T WANT TO HEAR WHAT HORRORS JUST TOOK PLACE WHEN I WENT TO THE BATHROOM.

WOULD YOU? WELL, IT STARTED WHEN I FELT SOME CRAMPS IN THE LIVING ROOM, AND A RUMBLING SOUND AS LOUD AS THE 2008 EARTHQUAKE. I WAS AFRAID I COULDN'T GET UP, LET ALONE MAKE IT TO THE TOILET. BUT WHEN DISASTER STRUCK, I PICTURED MY GRANDCHILDREN CHEERING ME ON. "COME ON GRAMPS, MAKE IT TO THE BATHROOM FOR US." MY OLDEST GRANDDAUGHTER IS ALMOST 20 NOW. SHE DOESN'T VISIT ME AS OFTEN AS SHE SHOULD. MAYBE IT'S BECAUSE I'M IN XIASHA FOR SOME REASON, LOOKING FOR THINGS TO DO.

DO VISIT SOME TIME, DEARIE. YOU COULD DO MY GROCERY SHOPPING. THAT NICE YOUNG MAN AT THE CONVENIENCE STORE WON'T ACCEPT COINS. I TELL HIM: "NICKEL ! DIME!!" AND HE JUST GRUNTS SOME ALIEN OOGLE BOOGLE AT ME. PERHAPS NOT SUCH A NICE YOUNG MAN AFTER ALL. I GET SO CONFUSED NOWADAYS. WON'T YOU HELP ME FIND SOMETHING TO DO? OR JUST FIND ANYTHING AT ALL; I'M SO LOST!

Don't you know that writing in CAPS is like shouting?

To do some volunteer work you still need a work visa/permit.

However, you can just ask around. Go to a primary school and

ask the principal if you could help out in some English[?] classes.

However, it will still be considered illegal work and without a

proper visa.

It isn't really a Chinese thing! Volunteering.

I offered free English classes at Primary School in Fuk., Xinjiang, for mentally challenged kids, who are/were in the same classes as everybody else. No answer from Principal.

I wanted to do few free classes a week at my present High school with students in regular Public school classes.

I'm working only with high paying students in International class, but other students hang daily in my office for 'small talk'.

I'm sharing office with Principal, and he didn't give me reply as off yet, so I'm thinking 'volunteering' isn't really known in China.

Call your local SAFEA office.

expatlife26:

What?? How dare you mock the great SAFEA?!?

Don't you know how important it is that everybody ONLY SAYS POSTIIVE THINGS about SAFEA?

I hope SAFEA catches up with you and gives you what you deserve!

If you want to contribute to a community, start with ours and fix that Capslock button, it might keep you busy for a bit.

A:Good question!  I'd say, if you study at Uni in China beside working full-time as an E.T. with Residence permit, you don't interfere with your full-time employment. It's your free time and you can do anything you want, with respect to the Chinese laws and customs. Have a look at terms of Z visa/Residence permit and ... ".. you cannot work (and earn monies!) with another employer ..."That's all it is! Your RP sponsor title is written on the RP stamp in your passport, I think. It's in Mandarin, so I've heard about that from someone ...At I.D.-ing by cops, they know where you work and than more details about you are just a phone call away ... and it happened in person ... LOL ... during the day-time stroll through Wulumuqi, Xinjiang, 2012/13 semester. Now under RP, you're free to surf Internet, jog, ... and study, too. I suggest, you look and ask at the Uni, you plan to study in the future. Have a detailed look at requirements for studying and attending chosen Uni.Good luck! -- icnif77
