Q: How can I pay my own meals / drinks?
My friends here is very nice to me that they buy me meals and drinks sometimes even though I am very much indeed intended to pay on my own. I'm not used to free meals.
I have tried saying:
"We are just friends so you cannot pay for me!!!"
"Why??? I'm not local so your custom does not fit me!!!"
"I must pay myself (because you know I earn more than you)"
"Get my bills, please. I BEG you dear!!!"
"OH PLEASE......"
Above are NO USE at all until I gave them the bills and disappear real quick in 0.1 sec.
How can I immerse the mind of going dutch into their thoughts?
invite them for a meal and tell them they are your guests and will pay.
Keep insisting - politely - and don't listen to their protests.
If they keep pressuring you say something like:
"you have treated me, it is my turn"
make sure you get the bill - seat yourself in a location so you have access to do this.
Just make it clear you are paying because friends take turns.
