I bought my gf an iPod 5. I know it's not the best, but that's what she wants. I thought I could add my music to it, but maybe I cannot? Can I put iTunes on my computer, transfer the songs to iTunes, then to the iPod?
Please help me out if you can.

If you have mp3 files from any source you can use iTunes to add them to the iPod
Start iTunes -> Create playlist -> drag files from folder to playlist window -> Synchronize iPod

Can I put iTunes on my Windows PC without problems? I admit I am paranoid.
thanks very much for the answer. Sounds easy.

Scandi's right, and yes, you can put iTunes on Windows. I wouldn't recommend using it as an actual music player, but for putting music on your iPod, it's perfect.
Dude...there is no IPad 5. I just bought my GF an IPad 4...newest one out right now.
I have over 16000 songs I downloaded for free and they work just dandy through the ITunes store.
The thing that sucks about Apple products is that you are forced to use ITunes...but this should not be an issue if you right click on the top left tab and choose add files to library.

TheDude, I'm only familiar with the iPads to the extend that I play games on the student's iPads. One at a time. Ipads seem to be made for games.
Anyway, it's an iPod 5, not an iPad.
16,000 songs? OK, sorry I must do this. 16,000 x 3 minutes each equals 48,000 minutes of songs, unless you simply copied Eruption 16,000 times. Hmmm not a bad idea. To continue, 48k minutes divided by 60 minutes equals 800 hours. So if she listens 24 hours per day for 33 days she can listen to all the songs. Or she could listen for two hours per day for 396 days, no repeats, no favorites.
Are you kidding? I know you're not. I know people with 20,000 or more songs. You won't listen to 10,000 songs in your entire life.
But if it makes her happy, then it makes sense. No why.
