Q: How can I see if my fapiao 发票 scratchcard has won the lottery?

The official fapiaos have a little scratch field where you can scratch open a kind of lottery ticket number. I know the chance of winning is very low, but it is free fun. How can I find out if my fapiao has won anything?

My guess would be to take it to a Lottery place and ask them to check the number if it runs by the Welfare Lottery drawings.

im pretty sure what he means is the fapiao from restaurants right?  if you scratch it off and theres a number then you won that amount.  if it says something like "thanks" or "better luck next time" then you didnt win.  I can't remember what it says.  If you can't understand Chinese just ask the people in the restaurant.

ive never won, but i know people that have won hundreds or thousands. it used to be you could win tens of thousands but the most you can win now is 5000

I've never seen this kind of fapiao before. Usually the ones I get, the scratched off field will say something like 谢谢你 (thank you). They left out the character for loser....whatever that is.....

You get them in restaurants but also for all other kind of purchases made in a shop here in Beijing. There are never characters, always a kind of ticket number that cannot be an amount. I am looking at "78316391" right now.

I do not think it belongs to the Welfare Lottery, but is an incentive scheme run by the tax office. The point is to make you insist on getting the fapiao, which on the other hand is their basis to collect taxes. But where can I check that ticket number?

you wont win anything with the fapiaos your talking about. all fapiaos have two numbers on them. one is the code (a 10 or 12 digit number) which denotes the type of industry etc, and the other is the serial number which you scratched off. Both are to ensure the company are paying tax. its hidden not as a lottery number, but to ensure they're not printing fakes themselves.

the only fapiaos you can win money on are at restaurants which have 2 areas that can be scratched off if youve noticed. one is the serial number i just mentioned, the other is the "thanks for playing" lottery style thing. shops dont have those types of fapiaos as far as I know.  You only get these types of fapiao at restaurants when you especially ask for them to be made out for you or a for a company.
