Q: How can I tell the direction when using google GPS?
How to know the direction when using google GPS?
For example, google GPS will tell me to walk to the east direction, but how do I know where is the east direction? I am confused. HELP
They say the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. I don't know who 'they' are or how 'they' know so much. You can use your Mickey Mouse watch too: position your watch with the face up and the hour hand pointing directly at the sun. Halfway between the hour hand and twelve o'clock will be due south. Of course the compass app on your phone may be useful if you haven't noticed NEWS on screen of the GPS app.

I was just about to say I've been doing the watch thing wrong, no wonder I can't find my way home when I'm drunk - but then I remembered it's going to be different in the southern hemisphere and I probably have been doing it right.

Does it direct you north in the southern hemisphere? Or is it the beer?
Stiggs:
Yeah, I was taught that if you point the 12 towards the sun north is halfway between the 12 and the hour hand.
Beer doesn't change it but if you're holding your beer when you check your watch you can end up with wet shoes. A better method is to drop another couple of beers and start walking, let the beer do the thinking. You'll always get home eventually.

Mate, sage advice like that is probably already in the bible or carved on a stone tablet somewhere but it couldn't hurt to put it on a t-shirt too I suppose. Spread the gospel, enlighten the masses and all that....
