It's on sale in China.

Hahaha, kidding. A few ways I know of, but they aren't always accurate.

Pick it up and feel it. You will often see people holding jade items on their cheeks. Real jade is really cool to the touch and take quite a while to warm up via body heat. Hold it in your hands for a while, touch it to your cheek and see if it's still cool. If it is, good chance it's real.

Next, hold it up to the light. It should have granular looking lines running through it.

Then try one of these 2 things: If you can, try to scratch it with a key or something. Jade is REALLY hard. If you can scratch it, it's fake. Also, try clinking it together with another piece. If it sounds like plastic, it's fake.

Your best bet is to ask the location of the jade. Each jade coloration and property depend on its location/properties. If you got a list and description stored in your iPhone, then you can have a better idea if it's fake or not. But then again, it's not risk-proof.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
