Q: How can you tell if someone is upset here?
Great question. I think you have to go with the extremes on this one.
Yelling violently = upset
Yelling at family member = Unconditional love
Smile = Very upset
Smile = You are stupid
Smile = I'll get you for that
Smile = I don't understand
Smile = Are you finished?
Smile = You have no idea what you are eating
Smile = Your bargaining skills suck
Wait a minute, I guess there is really no way to tell what the hell a smile really means or if they are upset, but it's usually not a good thing for you.
Here in China or here on the forums?
In China: if you don't agree with them or do what they want, immediately and w/out question, they are upset.
On the forums: mass quantities of thumbs-down (i.e if you don't agree with them or say what they want to hear...)
