well you guys may laugh at this stupid question..but I have been thinking about this for several days and really want to know some different opinions from you guys. Also as you can tell from my name,Im a Chinese man whois very very confused about why so many Chinese girls are with male foreigners and so few Chinese boys get female foreigners.Besides those bullshXt about size, are there any other reasons leading to that?
I recently make friend with an English girl and she is so cute that I come up with an idea why not try to date her?but i havent been abroad and dont know much things about that except in some films.there is another detail which annoys me badly, when we went out everyone stared at us.come on!what the hell is wrong with us?or maybe i should say what the hell is wrong with you.
anyway as I think this is about more than just relationship.so I found this part of forum to get some help.any advise and thoughts are appreciated.
plus im not a Wumao..so dont worry about that and I discoverd this place last week you guys are so funny..even you always mock about china but its ok.we Chinese do that quite often too.
Each woman is different. First of all, DON'T chase her, get to know her. Talk to her and find out shared interests. Don't be in a hurry and don't pressure her at all. Don't believe ANYTHING you might have seen on TV or the internet about foreign women: we are NOT prostitutes or easy. Show her you like and respect her.
these are only some suggestions
sorrel:
I should add, don't make assumptions about a woman's likes and dislikes. The number of times I have had to say 'I don't like shopping!' and heard 'but you are a girl......'
Everyone, men and women, are individuals who it takes time to get to know. the longer you take REALLY getting to know the person you are interested in, the more chances of success. I always find actions speak louder than words, so small gestures say a lot about you!
But beware of being the creepy guy hanging around too much: you have to be conscious of how the other person feels about you.
djangolee:
You have got 11 votes and NO thumb down...Any better record here?
Be yourself. Avoid pressuring for personal details and commitment too fast. Don't care what others think - after all, we all have our own personal tastes. Respect and try to understand cultural differences which include communication differences (hint: not a single straight guy on earth understands women of any age, race, religion, creed or colour). As Sorrel said (Am I the only one who thought Sorrel was male?) find mutual interests and let a relationship flourish (just don't fall into the "friend zone"). Have fun, you only live 5243 times! (according to the latest Buddhist doctrine).
sorrel:
no offence taken, but I thought my first post might have been a give-away regarding gender ;o)
happywanderer:
Haha, yes you are . Not falling into the "friend zone" is a good call though. As soon as you're as close as a "brother" - you are no longer hot.
No spitting.
No picking your nose.
No farting. If you must do it, go to the bathroom or do it some place she will not smell it.
If you sneeze/cough, make sure you sneeze/cough into a tissue or handkerchief. (No wiping snot on hands/clothes).
If you sneeze/cough, make sure you point away from people when you do it.
No pooping/peeing in public areas.
If you spit food out of your mouth. Wrap it in tissue/paper so that it can't be seen.
When coming up to a door, walk in front and open the door for her.
Always say "Please" when asking for something.
Always say "Thank you" when getting something.
No shouting at people that are next to you or sitting near you at the table..
Bonus Points: Whenever she has to do some work and you're not busy, volunteer to do it for her.
I think if all Chinese guys followed the above 100% of the time, they'd have absolutely no problem picking up both foreign girls *AND* Chinese girls. It's really not complicated.
gzraj:
I wanna add : Never Smoke & talk loud in the restaurants. May be these changes will attract other foreign gals too.....
thank you very much for your advise above.
to Sorrel.I dont speak English often in daily life so I forget what word is suitable..I find myself kind of like her.so its just about I like a girl and she happened to be a foreigner.I like her because we both like the same sport events,films,music.food.also we have similar thoughts about society as well as history.and when we are together there is always so much fun.I just worry about maybe some culture differences make damage to that beforeI realise the reason.
to Sidicas.i havent done any kind of those behaviors since 16..maybe some Chinese people dont have good manners but I was told to respect everyone and be polite since i was a kid.so dont worry about that.
Im using a phone to reply..so plz excuse me for the mistakes and errors i may made above
sorrel:
Just be yourself and respect her. Don't worry too much about cultural differences at present. But don't be in a hurry of you want more than just friendship: a couple of Chinese guys I met asked me to marry them after a couple of weeks - that scared me off. One guy had even told me he had planed I go to meet his family - I ran so fast!
to Sinobear.I agree with you.especially the friend zone part...we Chinese have this kind of theory too..when entering this zone, most of them are going to be sad backups..I wanna be a member of starting eleven!any advice to avoid that?
Why are so many foreigner men with Chinese women, easy , the odds, there must be a million women to one male foreigners in China. There are less foreign women in China. If half of the women in China were blonde Scandinavian women, half of the foreigners would be going out with blondes.
I like women and talk to them when ever I can. I'm funny and people tell me that I am very friendly. This is all that is required for Chinese women to like me. Just be a nice person.
We look different and are taller. Chinese women tell me that they like our eyes and nose bridges. Most women are not after money, they just like that I am nice to them. Chinese women look different to me also, I think even those that look plain to you look cute to me. Women have to like being with you to get to like you. Have fun, be very considerate, go places, do not be boring.
I always tell women that I think Chinese women are very beautiful and she is very beautiful also.
I do not know what most foreign women think of how a Chinese man looks. Maybe if you wear a mini-skirt and high heeled shoes they would like you more?
djangolee:
Dude.Telling a mean "joke" about someone on internet isn't a good way to show you are "friendly".
Anyway I'm not saying why she dislikes me,what I should do to make she likes me?That's not true. What I actually talk about is how to get on well with a girl with a totally different culture background and how to get over the obstacles caused by culture shock which may appear in the future.
This website is a really wonderful place to share opinions and communicate with different people.I don't want to ruin it by arguing with anyone, including you.Besides I don't think you are taller than me..
TedDBayer:
be a gentileman, am so, and women like a man that is not afraid to show his feminine side.
happywanderer:
Ted's comment on showing your feminine side is spot on - so don't be afraid to try on her undies .
TedDBayer:
@ djang. Learn to relax, take a joke, if I wanted to be mean I would just be mean.
Every person has their own personal charm. Use your own and don't try to be someone else. I also want to stress to avoid the bad habits most common in China: loud public spitting, coughing and making sure your hands are clean. And use your sense of humor. Women love men who make them laugh. And the most important thing, in my opinion, is to be confident. Don't be shy like a girl. When taking her out, don't ask her where to go. Find out what she likes (it seems you already know) and surprise her. Of course, every woman is different and some of them actually like to be in control, but most women want a man who knows what to do. Have fun. Dating should be fun.
djangolee:
The part of being funny isn't a problem for me I think..I have a good sense of humor, both Chinese style and sick humor..
But maybe I should think more about the"control" part.Like you said above, some of them want men to make decisions and others may prefer to be respected by asking her opinions.Anyway I need more time to know her better.Thank you for your advice.
put on your running shoes!.. but seriously I think just being honest and let her know how you feel,..see how she reacts and take it from there.
djangolee:
Maybe a car or a plane will be better..haha.I'm a little confused..Is "chase" a wrong word in this sentence?Sorry I am not very good at English
xinyuren:
chase is fine. Usually both the man and woman like the chase. It's like a game or a dance. Take your time and enjoy the chase.
I agree with sorrel she knows what she's talking about....also why do you have to chase the girl..? I don't think they want to be chased around you got to meet in the middle somewhere..especially if they are older and more mature..you might chase younger girls but not more older and more mature one's..
Don't listen to silva, she's never chased a guy or a girl.
You may want to re-think "catching girls" as some of these girls DO know some kind of combat training. I had a student whose father studied in the Shaolin Temple, only to drop out on his last year because he decided to marry and have a family. Nevertheless, he taught hi daughter what he knew. She demonstrated the "one inch punch". It IS real, not some Hollywood bs. So, some of these girls, if you catch them, they will rip your arms off and beat you with your own fists.
My student did not look at all like a kung fu master. She was short, chunky and very giggly
y.
djangolee:
sounds like Uma Thurman coming out from the film Kill Bill..
Let me tell you something. It's allowed to get married when you are just learning KungFu in ShaoLin temple. But it's not allowed if you are a monk there.Besides almost every Chinese boy has a dream of being a KungFu master when he is a kid..Just like super heroes in US maybe?
I had a friend who went to ShaoLin temple when he was a kid.The teacher told him to practice his power by punching on a brick and he broke his palm as a result...LOL
GuilinRaf:
My students dad wanted to be a monk, but, he got married instead.,
Even so, he apparently made his living teaching kung fu to police or military. I forget which. This was back in 2007.
What I do remember of the one inch punch is that she would place the palm of her hand just one inch from a soccer/football.Then, she would do a twist with just her wrist and the ball would shoot out just like as if it had been kicked!
Naturally, i had to try, but all I did was roll it off the desk.
djangolee:
maybe you should watch a KUNG FU film <叶问>.The leading role is a master of one inch punch.
I have given all the guys above a thumbup to fight against Wumao here!!Thank you for your advice.
time to sleep.good night everyone.
I prefer double meat cleavers when chasing individuals of the opposite gender. I'm Chinese and brainwashed by the CCP, so I have no idea how real relationships work.
Hulk, the guy's just asking a question, and he doesn't sound like a dick, or all that brainwashed.
As for the question, sorrel's given pretty much the perfect answer here.
djangolee:
why you always talk about brainwash stuff..we are not that stupid to believe everything told to us..we can visit facebook, twitter, wikipedia and almost everything through different ways in china.we are just normal people as you are..
masonk:
@djangolee It's not a matter of 'we' it's a matter of 'some' Chinese who set examples for your country, don't take it to heart mate, if anything she is defending you.
nicholasba:
djangolee, hulk is a chinese male...dont worry so much...all in the family..
When I had to start dating again after the best part of my life being Married I felt a little shy about it to . it is normal ( apparently) good luck too you maybe you will find some answers at SEX IN CHINA ON A 30 DAY VISA?
djangolee:
I need a bounty hunter here to terminate this advertisement seller...and as a reward I will offer you any visa you wanna and any GUY you wanna have sex with.
TedDBayer:
I want you, djang.
http://answers.echinacities.com/question/sex-china-30-day-visaYou know you just opened the flood gates on adds for SEX IN CHINA ON A 30 DAY VISA ? Oh consulting team !!!!
Reading comprehension: djangolee: I said you did not seem brainwashed. I also said you did not seem like a dick, and since you've responded with rudeness, and pretending that Chinese have equal access to information, I take both attempts to be nice back.
Sorry, hulk.
Traveler:
I don't think he was being rude. I think he was agreeing with you.
Hulk:
It's okay. I have no good advice for chasing girls, so I just joked around.
My advice? Really, just be yourself...
any Wumao can help me to deal with this guy!!Wumao works for money while you work for no reason.and you are even more hard working than Wumao!!wake up Wumao or you will be fired!!
I did not mean to be rude..if I did as my English is not very good, here is my apology.
I know your meaning totally.but I m not sure setting a stereotype impression of a Chinese as a brainwashed man before you know him is a good idea.
on the other hand.we have our own ways to get the same information as you can get even the govn blocks them.this is just an evidence to show we are not some ET from mars or whatever but the same people as you are.
I just dont wanna be treated as a monster or a special kind of human being here.I dont expect when I say something people react like WOW!!A NORMAL CHINESE!!SEE!thats just ridiculous.
anyway I apologise here for the inappropriate things above
What is wrong with young people today? You make the girl believe that she wants to chase you.
TedDBayer:
I've had girls run away when another girls points that out.
put on your best pair of sneakers and run like the wind
Follow Sorrel's advice and don't chase any girl, don't put too much pressure on yourself to adjust your way of life to hers and just be yourself. It's not about winning someone over, or even getting her to like you, just get to know her first and see what happens.
As for the stares.. I'm of Fijian decent and my girlfriend is British, people do stare and say things, in my experience iv tended to get more favourable comments in Shanghai "你看!他有外国女孩! - Subway patron" and less favourable in Beijing “你是汉奸!不是真好的中国人!- Patriotic Taxi Driver”. But overall, just take the looks and comments with a grain of salt.
here is another one for the DNLB register. I will let somebody else tell you what this register is
ask her out to dinner, just say " can i buy you dinner when you're free?"
just be yourself and say it , don't overly think about the pursuit, its simple, you'll have to do it eventually.
bring flowers ,flowers have their own languages
a man with no guts to ask girls out is not attractive which is IN MY OPINION.
good luck!
Do like Wonder Woman!
Use a lasso!
Of course, this could get you in trouble with the law......
