Forget being in China where your visa might not get renewed if you really speak your mind. Pretend we are in the U.S., Canada, Australia, or the U.K. How much differently would you post if you were legally and financially liable for what you said. Would people still speak truthfully? Would the blog bullies still bash other posters? Would the slander and gossip be reduced to a minimum. Would you even bother to post if you had to identify yourself by name and photo? The reason I bring this up is because Project Echelon already exists and NSA can, within a matter of 30 seconds, put a name and a photo to every comment made on the web by tracking your IP and remotely activating you built in laptop camera. (if you don't believe jump on to Google and do some homework).

Oh, I believe it. But I don't believe i'd say anything differently at all if my name and photo were there for all to see. Anyone who would is unlikely to answer the question though.
essentially we can be easily discovered. i would take the time to be less offensive in my language but the content would not change.
I probably wouldn't post any differently. The only reason I was maybe not quite so nice before is because I was unhappy with my situation. I don't troll. I try to keep to the point.
Be a good little sheep Frank and believe everything Google says, because its all true. If that was the case, why are there still hackers out there destroying domains and shutting them down? Everything can be hidden, but soon will come a day when nobody can hide, not even the Taliban hiding in their caves eating camel soup.
As for posting differently, who gives a shit what a lowby like any of us say on the forums anyway? Its not like we are hiding top secret information or teaching strategies that everyone doesnt know about already. I wouldnt change if my real info was up, because i dont give a rats ass what you guys think anyway.
No differently at all. If you are so worried that others may know who you really are then maybe you shouldn't be posting at all.
My opinions would not change. I post under my own name (not surname, granted) on another website.
Not one bit. I call 'em as I see 'em. Like, this question relates to China, how?
I wouldn't change a thing. I don't think I've pissed anyone off. I wouldn't slag off the CCP if I had to provide that kind of info though.
I have used a real picture of me on here and not the one of my ass. Who would worry about anything I say? I'm here for comic relief.

You've used one of your face AND one of your arse??? How the hell would anyone know the difference!?
Yyyyeh, i'm stillll messing with you there, Teddy. Yyyyou say ONE MORE WORD about my momma, an' WE ain't friends no more.
TedDBayer:
Yo Mommas so fat , she got mo chins than a Chinese telephone book.
The same. My real name is not hidden, it is shown for example on photos that I post (those made by myself).
On many forums I use also my own picture - also here.
I take full responsibility of all I do also "online". Hm... In the fact we all take it, but not everyone is aware of that. 'Nickname", VPV, switchable IP... it is all only fog, and there are ways to see in fog. So if one wants to know who You are - He will.
More seriously, less humor and no "tongue in cheek".
Not much difference. My posts would likely be more direct and I would employ more (attempts at) humor. And your point is?
I used to have my picture up as did some of our other members
My name is Phil Bravery and I don't pull my punches
I will and always say what I want even if I can't spell it
must be a slow day under the bridge
I think people would be answering posts according to races and not according to the importance of the posts, anyway why do you want to trow the stone and hide your hand?
what are you afraid of?
I use my real name and my real photo here and everywhere else... i think people are tooo paranoid... If your brave enough to say it, you should be brave enough to deal with it... not hide behind the internet. With Weibo we must register real names and ID's in larger cities ( GZ BJ and SH , just i think) and I still post things about the government. If something will happen... let it. Worst I have seen is my friends Weibo was shut down..
Frankly speaking, I believe the OP should answer his/her own question.
What say you?
Yeah, I think people might be a bit more considerate and respectful to one another here and those that are racist would at least keep it on a leash if not to themselves. Honesty is one thing, but brutal, hateful, insults might not be made if someone could track you down, knock on your door, and beat you silly.
If you don't have the balls to say it to someone's face you shouldn't say it online hiding behind a phony name!

Geezer my friend - you don't have to say it twice - I agree with you 200%. We run an English club with live in-person debates every Tuesday night at Renda. These debates are passionate arguments about anything and everything. But even when people lose their cool and raise their voices they still don't resort to racist comments or name calling like they do here - especially with crimochina

There would be a lot less name calling for sure and people would not be so openly racist.
