Q: How do Chinese view their own money?

You know how back home a dollar is a dollar? I actually get annoyed if I lose one. But here a yuan is irritating to have cause it's worth so little.

Do you think the Chinese view on yuan the way we view one dollar?

Adollar is a Dollar , A kuai is A kuai, a Mark is a Mark, Ruble is a ruble etc etc,
Don't you know that it's all RELATIVE, generally anyway.
Next time you wanna throw away a kuai , put it away for safe keeping i will come collect in a year.

Exactly, it is relative. So how do they view it?

Straw_ManNz:

In the same light as you would view your US 1 dollar, it is not a nuisance to them, because it holds it's value in their eyes. Money is only worth what the next person thinks that it is worth.

You do know that for many chinese, one yuan IS important. For us Westerners, we can take the attitude that "money isnt everything" but that does not mean we should not respect it, especially with so much poverty everywhere.
Find one yuan irritating? Give it to a beggar or to a temple/church of your choice!

Are you guys trying to tell me that if you have a crapload of one kuai notes you're not annoyed such a small denomination takes up so much space?

GuilinRaf:

If I had a "crapload" of one kuai notes not only am I not annoyed I am also thankful. Very few people all over the world have that.

I have spend a good five mins haggling back in forth with various street vendors over a single rmb. So yeah they care a lot about a single yuan. Hell I've invested enough time over saving one yuan that I guess I could claim that I care about it as well.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
