Well an american company normally what to make sure you're fully trained before sending you overseas. If you already have years of experience then you should have networking already established, so start there.

But if you just want to shoot in the dark and hope you get lucky, then start with the basic websites monster, linkedin, 51jobs.

Most American companies cannot hire locally. Meaning, that they will need to send your resume or c/v to the central office.  Being in a central office far away from China, the HR officer may not realize how your qualifications may be perfect for China.
Best of luck!

If you are talking about big American companies like Dell, IBM, HP, etc...  They are only allowed to do local hires of people already in China.  Which means that even if you do have the skills they are looking for, they will only be able to pay you local wages for the position.

If you are looking for an expat salary, you will need to go back to the US, then hire on with a company that has offices in China.  Then once you are inside, you can talk to them about being transfered to China with an expat salary.

Otherwise, it is very difficult for a foreigner to find a job with a big American company.

And as I have said in other posts, what do you bring to the table that 10's of thousands of Chinese do not already do for 1/10th the price?

Unless you're super qualified then forget about it. The company would rather hire a local who's just as good or better than you and pay them 1/10th of what they would have to pay you. Want an American job? Then you're going to have to go to America. Sorry fella.

I also live in Changsha and I think if you want to work for an American company - either network with the foreigners here (mostly fat chance) or go to a larger city with more established for businesses like Shenzhen and Beijing.

If you want to work for an American company in China you can look at the companies from America that moved to China. There are several companies that did and many of it's employers have since moved to China to work. If you haven't worked for any of the companies that have been sent to China then your best bet would be looking up ads around cities your interested in.

I've known some people to get lucky but to be honest the pay is a lot less. Your best bet is to work for the same company for 3 to 5 years in America and send you back as a manager.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
