Q: How do I get a UK criminal background check in China ??

Hi all, I have just been asked to produce a basic criminal background check in order to apply for a new work visa, this is acceptable as I do not have a criminal record.

The problem is getting one, I have looked at many agencies and websites and all of them including the disclosurescotland.co.uk which is the authority on these matters , and so far I am completely confused.

They are asking for utility bills from a UK address, or bank statements from a UK bank from the last 3 months.

I have been in China for 5 years since my last stay in The UK.

Has anyone been able to get a basic check with the new regulations, without having to go back to UK and wait for 2-3 weeks ?

This is driving me around in circles as I do not have a criminal record , my visa will expire this month and my future employer said they need it before they can continue the application for visa, then I will certainly have to go to UK to pick up my work visa (long story).

What I wish to do is this:

Apply for a check, have it sent here to my new employer.

In the meantime head back to UK and wait out the application before picking up from Chinese embassy in London.

head back to China, legally .

Can anyone advise me on how they got a check from the UK from within China ,please?

Go talk to your embassy they should be able to help you with some of these legal battles...or at least point you in the right direction. I just pointed you in the right direction now it's up for you to go and do the rest. I'm not from the UK rather the US so I don't have connections like that.

You are Chinese and can never go to the US.

Jason, see my post on your other thread. PM me if you are unsure and need more info. Even if you apply now it will probably take the best part of 3 weeks before it will get to you China.
