Q: How do I travel by train from Beijing to Guangzhou?

I want to know the fastest way to travel to Guangzhou without using a plane. What trains are available and how fast are they?  Where can I get the tickets? Which train station in Beijing to go to? How early should I buy the ticket? And any advice for the journey. Really appreciate it. Thanx.

Not sure about the time table
however if you are in a hotle get them to buy them for you.
if you have any local friends get them to show you the ropes.
if you are trying to buy at a station taqke your shoulder pads and
mouth gaurd
you can only buy tickets so far in advance normaly 1 week.
Best of luck

From Beijing to Guangzhou by train is about 36 hours ride.  I would strongly suggest you buy a soft sleeper, lower bunk, for your confort.  You will need of course toilet paper, food to eat, drinks to quench your thirst, a good book to read, and do not, ever, loose sight of your valuables.  You should keep the bulk of your money on a safety belt, and just keep a few yuan in your pocket.  Be aware of pickpockets, they like to hang around train stations and any place where large groups of people gather.
Do not froget the electronic translator, and if you are really brave, do try the dinner car, should be very close to the soft sleeper area of the train.
