How do you all do it? I've managed to get by up to now but it's getting really difficult to bear. Rush hours every hour of the day in public transportation, massive queues in supermarkets, can't go on vacation anywhere in China during official holidays, constant noise pollution. It's enough to drive any human being insane, and I feel like I'm getting closer to that every day.
I have got used to it,so it is just ok for me.I think i can deal with more people.Don't compare it too much with where you come from, then you will adapt to it more quickly. Why not taking it as a chance to practice your capability of patience ,tolerance and adaption to new environment?experience, think, learn, grow.

damn son...............you remind me of confucious...........do miss that dude
I act like they don't exist..............Seriously i do that all the time
I escape from China at least quarterly.....if not for that luxury....
I remember on a recent trip back to the US, I was walking through a mall and it struck me as odd how there were many unused seats in the public areas. It was kind of surreal.
But for the most part, you will find that you get used to the crowds. It just becomes part of a normal day.
well 1 thing you could do is avoid doin certain things like shopping during rush hour,
i think everyone goes through this in china, but i guess you just have to stop caring about these problems since you cant do anything to change this,
things could be better if the big cities had a better system to cope with the population
look at hong kong island, causway bay is really tiny but has so many people living there yet they manage to get people in and out quickly without causing a mess
I have no problem with crowds, but if I'm in the more "quiet" mood - I simply avoid crowded places. There are many places everywhere, not only main streets, popular shops and restaurants. Take few steps, and there is quiet and peace.
I was raised in a city, but have lived rural for most of my life. Rural living in quiet and relaxing, kinda like being at the cottage all year. City life seems to have more energy, excitement for me. I love the crowds in China, but I only see the women, and oh so many, all clones, but I like the model.
I know what you mean, i'm not one for massive crowds and the Chinese seem to thrive on the bustle. It doesn't help if you're in a place where foreigners get a lot of attention, then it really can feel like you're gonna crack. I'm kind of passed letting crowds get to me, though when i'm hungover, hmm, I want peace. In the past I used to carry an MP3 and if things got on my back i'd slip it on and slip away. I heard that Mao used to find the busiest place he could and sit there and read a book, just to see if he could overcome the busy scene and focus. Don't really know much else about him myself, but I did like that.
I try and do things like going to the supermarket early in the morning and during weekdays only, as it is much busier later in the day and on weekends. If I am doing something where I can't avoid the crowds at least I know I have a nice relatively quiet apartment waiting for me when it's over.
ignore them. Honestly, I don't even see their faces when they pass by. They're all a blur.
