Q: How do you find university teaching jobs in China?

I'd like to teach Enligsh at a university, preferably in one of the larger cities in China. What's the best way to go about finding one of those jobs? I don't see universities directly posting job ads so I'm guessing most of them use agents? Any useful info will be appreciated, thanks!

I can't vouch for what I say but maybe one method that you can use is to make a list of large Chinese cities, use keywords like [name of city] and university in a suitable search engine, choose target university, open the English language page, look at the "contact us" dropdown menu, select "international department" then send a cover letter and CV.

It's often best to contact universities directly to see if they are hiring by googling cities and universities. There will often be contact information for a director of teaching affairs or foreign affairs who could point you in the right direction. You can also try daves esl cafe or the echinacities job section but be wary of recruiters. Good uni. jobs often try to hire through referrals and word of mouth so being in a city and networking can often lead to some better opportunities.

Get onto an expat website, don't bother treating the other people with any sort of intelligence or respect, and just post an anonymous question - obviously, you wouldn't want to include things like your nationality, qualifications, experience, etc - that would just be suggesting to those plebs that their opinions really matter!
