Q: How do you get a dog license in Beijing?

In fact you don't need a licence for either!
All dog owners have to register their pets in Beijing, so by "dog license" I guess that's what you're referring to. You have to go to the Public Security Bureau with your dog, 2 passport photos of the dog, your passport, a passport photo of you, residence permit, foreign household registration, residential lease along with a permission letter from your apartment complex management and 1,000 RMB for the initial registration fee (annual renewal afterwards is 500 RMB). If you can prove with proper documentation that your dog has been spayed or neutered by a legally registered veterinarian hospital, you are entitled to a 50% discount in initial registration fees.
