On my visit, I didn't really have enough clothes and I had to pay over weigh baggage, which I didn't think was that much. I mailed a 500gr package recently and it was $80 express post, thought I'd try that as no regular mail seems to arrive ( in 6 months). How do you ship your clothes etc to China? Does your stuff get lost in shipping? Be advised, I'm shipping all my clothes dirty, so if they get stolden I will laugh. My socks should help clear customs faster.

Short of (and depending on volumen and weight) using Postal Office, or any other service as Fed Ex, or DHL or UPS (and they charge you a fortune for it) is to use a consolidator freight forwarder to China.
But be aware, there are severe restrictions on shipping household goods from abroad into China, permissions must be obtained before hand, with "L" visa ypu can not do, and last time I checked, clothes were on the list of NOT ALLOWED items to import. Suggest you contact one where you live in China, explain your problem and see what they suggest.
I guess there is no restriction on wearing 14 outfits on an airplane, Have fun strip searching me. ) That would get me 2 weeks worth.
i honestly think you should just bring 2 pairs of jeans or 1 or 2 pairs of khakis and 5 good shirts (3 polo shirts 2 t-shirts) becuase you will settle into wearing the same clothes over and over again you really dont want to risk shipping your clothes
What are you bringing to be overweight? (or, I suppose, being more correct - whats the weight limit you've got?) When I came here, it was 23 KG. And I know I brought stuff that, really, I didn't need. Depending on where you're going to, Crim's got the better idea - a couple of shirts and pants, a spare pair of boots/shoes - and then buy the rest of your stuff here. If you're near a big city, there's plenty of stuff around, and if you drop into Shanghai, there's a stack of tailors will make you stuff for relatively cheap prices - 'relatively' being 'less than the cost of overweight luggage, or shipping'.
I brought 23 g and 2 carry ons.2 pr pants, 2 dress pants, 10 shirts, socks (washed) 2 pr shorts, packed 2 pr shoes, shaving, toiletries (shampoo/ deod),some gifts. I like to have enough clothes that I'm not doing laundry often. So triple this list. I couldn't find any clothes or shoes that fit in China.
