not that great. typical chinese city, not really worth the trip.

unless your going there anyway, Qingdao is much better. the air is a bit cleaner too.sometimes you can even see the sky!!

I spent 10 months there and found nothing special, it is called the spring city, but most of the spring were dry. There is a lot of dust in the air, so much that it is hard to find people cleaning shoes, because no one has them cleaned. The dust gets so dirty just walking for a day on the street. I found hiking in the mountain close to town was the best thing and the special magical flowers that grow wild there.

I lived in Jinan for 6 months. There are some ok springs such as the baotou spring and the dragon spring but these are just day excursions which you wouldn't want to repeat for at least another season.

The winter can be long and cold upto 5 months of 0 to -10. There is traffic everywhere you go, and the environment is not good. I climbed up thousand buddha mountain and you can just see the smog spread out in front of you.

Jinan is a cheap place to live, but if you're looking for any kind of foreign food or beer think again!I Jinan is near to tai shan which is a fantastic mountain to climb ad one of the holiest mountains in the world. Also it's only 3 hours by train to Beijing.

That said, I wouldn't recommend it, there are far better places for you to visit in China.

i lived in jinan for a while when i first got to china. i can say by experience that it was kinda dull(probably because i didn't know the language).i usually hung out at the city square and around it. u can't really see the sky at all. the chinese friends there just wanted to go to karaoke and stuff which i wasn't really interested in. there was this one place a bit further from the city, where you could go skiing during the winter. me and my friends went to climb a local hill(don't remember the name) that was a fun experience. i still have friends there. i was a nice experience Smile

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
