Q: How does the Beijing Airport compare to the rest of the airports in the world?
I've actually found it quite fascinating and they seem to have really put an effort into making it look beautiful. How would you say it stacks up compared to the other airports in the world. I've been through several airports and I can say it's cool however it does seem very empty at times. I guess that is because the airport is so huge. I believe it is one of the biggest airports in the world. Not sure where they rank on that issue but I did read about it being one of the biggest.
It is one of the better ones I have been to but does not compare to Changi.
Worst is Kuala Lumper Low cost terminal basically a tin shed

The airport in Narobi, Kenya was basically like that. We were eating fast food awaiting for our flight out, and some birds flew to the table begging for the fries. 
The building is great, but the shops and such are crap.
I have not been to that many but Beijing is far and away the most impressive I have seen. The shuttle train between domestic and international is great and it was easy to find my way around.
They are apparently building a newer one that is far larger.
Another impressive terminal is Beijing South train station. Sensational and better than many airports.
It's too big. I missed my connecting flight last time I was there.
I find Chek Lap Kok Hong Kong to be the best I have been to so far by a country mile.
Beijing is OK...but even Vancouver is better IMO.
It's better than any airport I've ever seen. I haven't been everywhere. Manchester, Gatwick, Amsterdam, Vancouver, Calgary, Minneapolis, (can't even think of them all) and Beijing Airport is an entire level and league above them all. I would even compare. Beijing is what all airports ought to be trying to be, want to be.
It still amazes me how senseless, blocky, anti-intuitive, unhelpful and 'clunky' almost ALL airports still are here in 2012.
Its ok but Amsterdam,Schipol is a lot better,a casino,museum,with original masters paintings it could be a day out attraction if security wasnt a concern
For me I don't care much about the facilities at the airport as long as they fly on time. With my past experience I would put it on the worst list. Today I was suppose to take off at 8:35 am but finally took off at 10:20 am. My gosh! not only once or twice I faced this situation. Five times within a past month, I have spent more than 2 hours inside the plane. And they keep telling you not to use phone or any electronic devices. What the heck should we do then for those lost hours.
So the impression of bejing airport is extremely horrible for me now because of those captive hours inside the plane. I hope no one has faced this and wish not to face later.

try a 5 hour delay in Changsha, 2 hours of which was in the plane !!
