Q: How does a Work Permit visa go this expensive?

It pops up in my mind that "how dare you???" rhetorical question Greta Thunberg asks on a dramatic tone pleading for the climate change garbage at the UN.

Yeah, let's dare and try to imagine the chain of vicioussness that goes from the office that grants the Work Permit down to the employee, having in between a legion of predators ready to take their share to the tune of ten of thousands of moneys that must be paid.

I have this friend from Germany who simply told me: "I pay only RMB 800 for my Visa, every year." Is that true at all? If so, then it begs for the question, this time not rhetorical anymore: how is it that the visa goes this sky rocket to cost up to 20000 and even more of the former Chinese Yuen?

Another question that comes in line: Is China Government aware of the scheme that the Work Pemit visa triggers starting with  the very Government Officers down to the other end of the chain of food that is the employee?

So who is it first to allow this high level of corruption?

Let's see how this sham can be explained that a recent recruited employee is already a sold victim on the market of favors so much so these predators are capable of? How can a prospective employee smell where the sharks are and avoid them getting that job where he is to pay only the administration fees of the Work Permit visa jut like my friend from Germany.

This isn't about native-non native dichotomy that I put about although it is very likely that the more suitable a future teacher is to that task from the perspective of right to legally teach in China, a native one must cost the visa even more. My two cents anyway.

As well,  I might be wrong and actually the non-native one be fooled around with an outrageously expensive visa because it is harder to get it on the same ground of legal status in which case it is sold body and soul as future prostitute to pay the pimp first the debts that  are generated before the arrival and at the expense of the teacher's life in this country afterwards.

Is China Goverment aware of the fact that  its face is muddied with illegal doings, by the very own Chinese citizens that encourage this sort of corruption? Or is it natural and legal that a Work Permit visa cost this expsnisve?

What's your input on a sensitive issue anyway?

Seriously let's talk this the way it is.

Thanks anyway.

I've never paid a cent in my 8-years of working in China (until 2017).

I spent monies during the visa runs to HK (housing&transport), but I was never asked to pay any Z visa/RP cost and I don't have a clue about the price for it.

I've never used an agent, either.

same here.... public schools take care of all that, it's their responsibility, and it's not coming out of anyone's pocket,,, so they don't care.

My original visa was $168.00 (posted at the Chinese consulate)

Medical exam and residence permit was 800 RMB

Yearly renewals are 400 RMB

I've never seen what you're talking about. Are you going through agents? I did mine myself, armed with nothing more than the paperwork provided by my employer.

PulSartre:

It's actually based on conversations I had with two agents who deal with work permit visas. My visa has been dealt with by my employer already. Nevertheless, I suspect that the employer has dealt with such agents. Although I did not pay for my visa out of my pocket, except, just like you, at my country of origin, since my conversations with these two agents, I assume it is a common doing we employees ignore very much indeed.  While the work visa is paid by ourselves, the employer deals with a  third party and pays for the Work Permit visa after we enter China.

The reality is  that the employers deals a considerable amount of money for us before coming to China, that pops out by the time the employee wants to change employer.

Money is dealt between the actual and prospective one, based on the initial costs, which include Work Permit visa and the assumed loss of benefit that a teacher incurs into by leaving his employer. It doesn't matter that the employee plays by the contractual rules, the Letter of release and other paraphernalia are granted once money is dealt between the former and the next employer. Thus you are bought without knowing it and resold. Only when there is an agreement - hence, a deal - between the employers parties, you can pick the paperwork that allows you to move on.

Based on all this I come to understand that Work Permit visa generally is acquired in this shady way at the expense of the laboral safety of the teacher and whatever the contract pretends to grant in order for you to continue in China so much so that your freedom of move is based on how much the future employer pays for you, that is, buying you without you knowing it.

I am sure, SAFEA will help anybody who cannot get transfer documents (Release letter) because of this or that reason.

Gov. will also sort out very quick any shady dealing employer you described.

My conversation with employer usually went like this:

First. I asked .... and if no result in a week, I asked 2nd time with warning: "If you won't comply with my demand/request, I must dial SAFEA ... and ask them for help!".

Voila ... my request get fulfilled shortly after magic words 'SAFEA'.

I mostly worked at Public Schools in China.

What are you talking about? ¥20000?  No. ¥800. If you’re paying an agent ¥20000 then you need to find a different one.

PulSartre:

This is what agents come out to admit, as a result of conversations I had with two of the many out there. Based on these conversations and the process to move on from your employer to a new one, I come to understand that Work Permit visa is traded this dearly through third parties. Therefore, my inquiry into the chain food of the system of corruption that has at the core trading with China's Government official documents perpetrated by the very Chinese employers and officers responsible to observe the Chinese laboral laws.

So stop using third parties.

Spider, I actually don't need any of the agents at all. The whole point is around the scheme that build up corruption and predatory network between the two ends of the teaching industry routine: China Government and teachers. All who are in between, who use and abuse the official documents are Chinese people, stealing their own country while they pretend to be stollen by the foreigners. The Work Permit visa is just one of the many other topics I will go about further more.

Im not sure about that price....but if the agent is doing everything and its shady it can get up there in price. For example, if the agents is getting you a business visa or a student visa or a work visa and any kind of visa you dont qualify for, and they provide the company, hence its not something you are involved with or you are working at that company, they just provide the service and paperwork and do all the legwork. The price can get up there.

PulSartre:

It makes sense that too.
