Q: How easy is it to switch to a working visa from a student visa?

Hi. I'm here on a student visa and I was just wondering, in case I want to get a full time job as a teacher here, how easy is it to change my visa to a Z type working visa while still remaining in China during the whole time?

Will I be forced to return to my home country and reapply for entrance to China or can it be done here?

Thanks

You must get Z visa sponsor (School) first!  School will apply for Working permit, and other stuff at Foreign Expert Bureau.

If your School is powerful enough, they might convince PSB (exit-entry Police) to issue 'Z' pick-up in HK. You must exit China for Z.

As I read, PSB in bigger cities always require Z pick-up at Chinese Embassy in your home country (Tianjin PSB 2Y ago)

Z pick up (converting your student visa to Z) cannot be done in China.

TMaster:

The PSB has no relation with the place you are authorized to apply for a Z visa. The Labor Bureau decides when they issue the formal invitation.

And they do not need convincing, either they can allow you to apply from HK, or they can't, acording to where and who your employer is.

I'm not really sure about  that! PSB or SAFEA! That's Chinese Gov. thingy, in what I never had 'peek' into it. One of them! I'm working on Caol Ila

A:It's up to the employer if they want to hire you that's fine most cities today require you to take a health check every year when renewing the working visa if you pass the health check and you get your visa renewed each year I know teachers that are in their 70s and they're still doing great -- ironman510
