Got an online teaching job offer from EF. How well is the position? Anything I should be concerned about?
I think English First should be a bit concerned......
"How is English First?"
"How well is the position?"
In my expereince, grammar is key.
icnif77:
It won't go at EF without native English passport beside all other things you mentioned.
It's much different than at e-Tities ... anybody can ask questions ...
That's the only requirement ...
If e-Tities would deliver my 14 raincoasts, I could teach all new agents proper English ...
icnif77:
... or in other words, EF will never offer job to anybody and especially not to a non-native English passport holder ... what OP is stating ... "I got an offer from ET ..."
Now, as you all know, I am different-o ...
I got an offer from EF Tangshan in 2009 as my first gig in China, after I submitted my CV ... I didn't last too long (around 3 months) 'cause of my non-native English passport.
Matter was, S. African DOS was so overwhelmed with the classes he had to overtake that he hired anybody at the time.
DOS told me the reasons for my hire at the interview, he he.
Despite, he had to let me go after Chinese branch owner found out my non-native English origin, he wrote an excellent Recommendation letter, which is still pinned at my CV.
Very good chap ... ex-SA-military ...
Lard:
Online teaching position is not the same. They want none natives.
sorrel:
'They want none natives'
????
it does not seem as if you are even trying.
English First are welcome to you - but i feel sorry for the students.

Well, it smells well. The smell is quite well, if u love the smell of a well. I have heard that a whale loves a well if it smells well to the whale. Well?
EF has had a spotty reputation throughout the world, including China. It depends on who the franchise owner is. Past violations of undocumented workers, late or no pay, withholding paperwork, hiring teachers on travel visas, and management/worker relations issues. Not all EF companies are created equal. When problems are reported in the media, it is usually companies like EF, Wall Street, and Disney that makes the headlines. Proceed with caution.

All those schools are being blamed and condemned for the reason that they are all being owned by foreign entities. It's very similar to recent Tesla outcry, whereas Chinese schools/companies are being protected by the Great Wall. Would you rather go and work at an EF or some local school run by an uneducated redneck?
WangNan2020:
I'd agree that it depends on different franchises... But still, large enterprises like EF does better in overall organization and systems. I've been to their HQ in Shanghai, it was amazing.

All that talk about weed and Lard the OP gave me a flashback

Cheech: "Is this a Lardass ...?"
lard-ass n. A person who is not only useless, but also weighs a rediculous amount. Lard-asses usually eat Taco Bell three times a day with a Burger King snack in between, and food is always purchased with someone else's money.
I am a bit concerned with the new agents, here.
Is there nobody on Board, who would ask few normal questions in English once in a week?
Any volunteers ...?
I found some Q guidance on web ...
253 Good Questions to Ask - The only list you'll need.
Knowing good questions to ask is essential ... Because asking questions is the most powerful way to get to know someone. Of course, not all questions are equal. Having the right questions to ask prepared goes a long way in helping you to connect with people more effectively. And I know it sounds too good to be true, but the right question to ask someone can change your life.
Apparently, questions position here is paid, butT ... I want my rains, first.
You know, you can't trust to promise you'll receive future pay, if Co. owes you few 'back salaries', already.
OMG! I have just realised we all owe the the OP a big apology. He/She/It/or whatever pronoun they/them/those have chosen this week was actually asking, How is English first? As in, the language being supreme, in the world.
Well, my friend, it has to do with being civilised, educated, hard working, honest and ethical - these things and more are how English is Numbah 1.
EF is not good and I would stay clear of language centers right now.
