Write (or get someone to do it for you) a good, western style resume/cv. Fisrt of all, remember westerners do not like cvs that are long and wordy. You need to be snappy and to the point. Don't spend too much time trying to sell yourself on academic achievement. Unlike their Chinese counterparts, western executives are inclined not to put too much emphasis on this. You need to sell yourself based on transferable skills that are useful to the organization that you are applying to. Western bosses see employees as an investment and it is for you to convince them that they will get a worthwhile return on the investment.

You need to honestly assess your own skills and then aim at companies that can utilize them. Do target searches on the internet or use recruitment agencies to help you. Finally, go to the internet and read the trillion or so sites that advise on how to handle a western style interview. Note carefully how to sell yourself on the day and what questions to ask.

It is well known in western trade and commerce that western interviewers usually make up their minds within the first three minutes of the interview. Your first impression will be your last unless you portray yourself well.
