If you find but one therapist in China, you'll be lucky....

Generally speaking, Chinese don't believe in psychology and in therapy. When they have problems, it's either they share them with their parents, and if the problem is family-related, they will then share it with their friends. Going to somebody unknown to talk to about your problems is definitely not considered a good solution.

I tried once with a previous girlfriend of mine. I convinced her to come to one session with me, the end result was "Why do you waste money with this kind of people! We can just talk about it, that's enough".

You can try to find one in an international hospital, but again, hospitals look at what is profitable for their business, and therapies of this kind are unfortunately not.

A country in which people have to hide their emotions, forbid touch and are afraid to show their feelings, is by large a country where you would need therapists, but where you won't find them.

Sorry to hear that about your girlfriend.

Here in China, going to a therapist is considered at best a sign of weakness and at worst an indication that you are crazy. Mental illness has a very bad stigma here. To illustrate the point, I had a student in Guilin who was very quiet, but not is the shy way. She was always by herself and never mixed with her classmates.

Then, she disappeared. Eventually I was told that the school dismissed her because she had depression. 

So, finding a therapist and getting her to go to one even if you do find one will be an uphill battle for you. I truly wish you the best.

Along with the other posts, I would like to make a statement. Although it isnt right to hit a girl, remember where you are at. Most of the girls here a defensive without ever have being hit. They kick, hit, bite and scream for know apparent reason other than they didn't get what they wanted.

I'm not saying your girl is like this, I'm saying look further inside to be sure it's what really happened. You don not need to go to a mental hospital to get counseling, you can go to a counselor at a clinic in any big city that has a western hospital. They are trained abroad and know very well if they are being honest or not.

She's not hitting or kicking or screaming at me. I've noticed she's a bit touchy/jumpy , other little things. I'll have to be patient. Maybe I can do some more reading. Therapy sounds out of the question.

Very true Ted, not sure of your situation, but I've seen, witnessed and have been envolved in this type of Chinese women. I really think it's normal for them, that is why they have so many nicknames. The one I gave is, Queens of China.

The don't like to be touched in sensitive places that are normal back home, they find it irritable.

As for being touchy and maybe overly sensitive, well that's their nature.
