Q: How to get 3G data service for short visit to China
Is there prepaid 3G data service, I have China mobile prepaid SIM Card with 2G service(Edge), Is there any way I can get 3G data plan for a week or so? Thanks!
My suggestion for you, since you have already a China Mobile SIM card, is to go to one of their locations when in China and ask them how to upgrade to 3G. I have had a cell phone with China Mobile with prepaid SIM cards for ages while visiting China. When I arrived, a quick call activated the card, and when I leave, they placed some status on it that I only paid 10 Rmb per month. To me it was nice, since it allowed me to keep the same number all the time. But I visited China 2 to 4 times per year.
Now that I live here, I am out of prepaid, and into a year contract, and I have found China Mobile to be willing to listen and offer solutions. Maybe not exactly what I wanted, but close enough.
