Q: How to get a chinese driving license

Hi guys Smile. Thanks for reading this question. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get a Chinese Driving License? I've heard that agents can convert our local (UK in my case) license into a Chinese one. Does anyone know any good agents for this, or the process otherwise. Thanks Smile

Hello,

I just got mine. Here are the things you need:

Valid visa with a stay over three months.

Temporary registration at your local police station.

Original license translated to Chinese. In Beijing they allow you to translate it yourself.

Photos. Tell them you are getting drivers license and they will give you the right ones.

Health test. Go to a hospital and tell them you need a health test for drivers license. Costs 10rmb. They will use one of the photos there.

Fill in the application and take it to the bureau of traffic affairs. You can also fill it out there.  Make sure to have everything with you. You will set up your appointment then to take the test. You may need to wait one week. It's 50rmb to take the test.

Study well. There is an app for the iPad called Driving in China. It covers all possible questions.

If if you pass it will be 10rmb to make the license and the. 10rmb to send it. All in all you will probably pay less than 100rmb.

Do you have a resident permit?

If yes then you don't need an agent! Though you will need some Chinese help with the forms. It will cost you about 500.

As icnif states. The answers are on this website. You'll also find the details by searching on Bing, Goog, etc.

If no RP....then it will cost you 6-7000! Plenty of agents with websites.

A:No, it's not allowed to work under RP at 2nd job! I'd say, Z visa/RP sponsor can have an objections to your part-time job. I did the same at my English teaching in China and elsewhere, butT ... I casually mentioned at my prime job, some kindergarten or another school asked me to work with them part-time. Then, my Q: "Is that permitted?" ...  Answer from RP sponsor was always "Yes, but you can't be late or miss the classes at our school ..." with my reply: "No, our work schedule has a priority, and I'll arrange classes at kindergarten only in my free time." When I cleared that, I was undertaking any extra teaching hours at other schools and private students in my free time.Sometimes, teachers at my prime job asked me if I'm willing to have some extra classes elsewhere.I accepted after the talk with School's principal. I suggest, you test the felling at your Z/RP sponsor and once you see they don't object, you can work at 2nd job. Keeping your 2nd job as a secret from your employer won't work, 'cause you're laowai and Chinese know exactly what you do in your free time. However, despite your employer's agreement for extra work, you are still in violation of Chinese Labour law, and even if your sponsor agrees to your extra work, you can still get in trouble, because it's clearly written (somewhere ... ) that under Z/WP, one can work only at the Z-sponsor and nowhere else. Penalties ... I'd say, there won't be any warnings and you'll be required to exit China in short Exit time.It never happened to me, so I can't really advice how is when manure hits the fan ...  -- icnif77
