Q: How to get myself + ebike/mountain bike from the north to the very south of China? By train?!

I have never seen people taking bikes on the train in China, so I wonder if it's possible at all? An issue apart from the 26" MTB's size might be the special 72V 30Ah Lithium battery pack..

It should be possible using the CRE transportation service. They have an office at most China Mainland railway stations and transport goods. They set the price by weight and will deliver to a named railway station or given address (it is cheaper to go station to station rather than door to door service).

Maybe you can put the bicycle into a wooden crate. You may even be able to insure against theft or damage.

Sell it up north, buy a new one down south. Simples.

no. it's my main mode of transportation. it's highly customized - will find nobody who wants it like that for what it's worth and i don't want the crap the chinese market offers.
anyway i would have to make several purchases as suggested as i want to travel the whole country until next summer... not simple and very expensive.
